I do like the concept, though.

    1/2 price? maybe. maybe not.

Remember D23? Not even worth the $75 at this point (cannot even get into "free" events.

Granted, much of the mystique around Club 33 that I enjoyed immensely when I first learned of its existence waned once a silly lowly such as myself was able to visit (thanks LP'ers!).

Prior to that, Club 33 was this wonderfully mysterious place that I never, ever thought I'd see. Even learning about the door - so close to Pirates' exit, yet I'd had NO clue, was BEYOND cool to me as a Disneyland fanatic from childhood.

I'd enjoy going again sometime, but wouldn't spend anywhere near the $$ they want for membership. My outrageous curiousity satisfied, now Club 33 would be more like a meal in a VERY nice restaurant that happens to be inside Disneyland. (Does that make sense?)

Makes perfect sense. I've been there too. It's really not that big a deal; as you say, it's just a nice (and unique) restaurant. No way is it worth the membership fee and dues.

I don't want the Weinie for a park to be a mega revenue generator like this. This whole idea leaves a very bad taste in this fan's mouth.

If this is to be the new weenie for the park, then make sure that there is some payoff inside, not just a pretty building. If you must, put the club on the second floor. Or how about using another section of the park. The Hyperion is looking at a phase 2 upgrade. Why not build an executive lounge (Hyperion Club?) with views of Carsland, Bugsland, and the pier? Heck, they could build on top of that facade across the street. All I mean to say is, if it's necessary to redo the entrance in the first place, do it right.

It wouldn't be any different than Cinderella's Castle at WDW. Certainly a private club would be better than that metallic sculpture that was there before.
