I'm sure the wife would understand...Just as I would move out of the way if Val Kilmner showed in interest in her (that's her dream dude)

While I think the pictures are beautiful, and am glad they were released, pretty pictures aren't going to be able to sell a bad product. If you're thinking that DCA would have been more successful if pictures like these were part of the marketing campaign, then I have to disagree. I totally disagree with the contention that the main reason, or at least a big part of the reason, that DCA's reception with the public was tepid was because of bad marketing. I agree that the marketing was bad, but there is no better marketing than positive word of mouth. DCA was unpopular because Disney didn't give their customers what their customers expect from Disney. And no amount of pretty pictures would have changed that.

No, that isn't what I'm saying exactly. I am not addressing DCA's problems here, as that has been discussed incessantly since 2001 until it doesn't warrant any further attention. Yes, I get it: it’s a carnival in a parking lot and the park sucks.

The DLR marketing and launch campaign was horrible by any standard, especially given Disney’s promotional expertise. It would have benefited greatly from some creative finesse like what we are seeing today. The Annie Leibovitz photos are impressive, set a new creative benchmark for theme park marketing, and capture the spirit of Disney theme parks in a new and refreshing way. I was a bit skeptical about the Year of a Million Dreams, but so far I am generally impressed and surprised by how good the marketing campaign is.

The pictures are great, but in all reality what's the point of them and how is this considered news worthy?

Does anyone think these celebrity gajillionaires need Disney Parks to make their "dreams" come true? Does anyone think Mr. Beckham couldn't have rented his own horse, without doing a promo spot? Why isn't Disneyland the star of its campaigns?

The same thing bothered me about the Disneyland: The First 50 Magical Years. It was ALL about "I'm Steve Martin". And the Parade of Dreams? Why did it need to begin, "I'm Julie Andrews"? Did that somehow make it a great parade? (It was a dud, in my opinion.) Why does Disneyland (or any Disney park) suddenly need "big names" in creepy, leering poses?

Remember the little dogs who went to Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom and loved it? NOW THAT WAS A CAMPAIGN! This one is a great disappoitment.

Nope, it isn't really newsworthy, but it's great marketing. A Disney theme park campaign being disussed on ET? Brilliant.

The photos are for Disney theme park ads that will appear in Vanity Fair and Vogue magazines.

"Why isn't Disneyland the star of its campaigns?"

That's been done already. Think about it.

The desire to attract a more sophisticated audience has been around ever since the start of the Eisner era. I have no real problem with it; I just feel that it basically doesn't really deliver the right kind of message. No matter how you slice it, the readers of Vanity Fair are not the target audience for a Disney theme park. And there is nothing short of free paid vacations that is going to change their minds.

I'm not the biggest Disney geek on here by any means but....WRONG! Julie Andrews narrated the 50th fireworks, "Remember, Dreams Come True", that were so good that it had everyone on this site wetting their collective pants.

As for the Parade of Dreams, yes you have your opinion which is cool, But IMO it was a terrific parade and I usually don't care for most parades.
