I actually did not get to eat there until I was an adult and it did not lose its magic for me one bit! The food is secondary to the ambiance. I still would go even if McDonalds ended up taking it over and served big macs...lol (MMM...I had better watch what I say, I would hate to give anyone ideas.) I still miss the place that now serves McDonald's french fries, but used to serve crawdads with lemon slices and a spicy dipping sauce.

I have eaten at many "nice restaurants." I don't mind paying $45-50 dollars a plate (sometimes more) if it is really great food. I have no elevated expectation about what is to be served but I do expect it to be consistantly great for the prices they are charging.
I think it is funny that some people believe that just because it is Disney, it is magically worth as much as they charge.
I love the atmostphere but it is hardly "fine dining." It is a themed restaurant for everyone-including families with children. I agree with the posts ahead of me that said until the food is consistently good again, (key word consistently) I will not be frequenting the BB like before.

///It is just supposed to be fun.///

BB fun? Perhaps, but I would describe it differently than that. Fun? Hmm could be I suppose. Sure--- why not!

/// I have never had a problem with the light from the outside ruining my dining experience.///

Well then good for you--- it doesn't mean that the outside light isn't present and detracts from the interior ambiance.

/// And DLR is for families///

Are you sure about that?. I was thinking it was built solely for hermits, isolationists and singles.

/// So what that there are paper hats for the kids and balloons? In all the times I have gone I have never had a balloon pop during my meal-ever- and the hats do not bother me.///

That doesn't mean balloons didn't pop on my visit nor kids playing with those paper hats at the dinner table....(hint, they did). Toys don't belong in upscale joints; they belong in McDonld's Happy meals--- can't kids these days go 50 minutes without them; they have the rest of the day and the rest of the park to play with toys.

The sheer frustration with mgt. over that is that is would be extremely easy to correct--- but yet they don't fix it. I'll bet they could do it for $1,000 or less. Heck, I'll donate the blanket or dark sheet if I knew they would put it to use.

And True upscale restaurants don't belong in theme parks designed for families of all ages.

I take it that you don't have kids, barboy-because as any parent knows it you have over-stimulated kids (being in a theme park plus) that are tired and hungy-you come prepared for perhaps a looooong wait for food with something quiet to entertain them with.

And if kids that are playing with a toy at another table bother you-hint:don't eat at a theme park.

Aha! I fully anticipated a response like that sooner or later and it's a fair question/suggestion.

But dinners can not escape the encroaching outside elements either since New Orleans Square has lamps and other lighting.

    Why not?

Disney attractions come in all shapes and sizes; some clearly target the young like Storybook Canal boats or Dumbo while others are more adult like in their approach such as the Adventurer's club, Mission:Space, American Adventure or Califonia Adventure wine tasting.

Disney restaurants target certain age groups too---- that is why Goofy's Kitchen and EPCOT's showcase sitdowns exist; clearly they are designed for different age segments.

If by playing you mean making a ruckus or popping balloons then no, I should not have to go elsewhere---the only thing needing to change are parenting skills next table over and BB policy.

If by playing you mean kids are enjoying but staying polite and well mannered then I'm cool and by all means let them have their fun anywhere anytime.

Mine are old enough now though - so if they behave at c33 we will try bb next trip.
