I won't comment on what has been discussed but it is worth noting that WDW capex is on the agenda at virtually every single BoD. It doesn't mean it is more likely to be greenlighted if the BoD are in the swamps.

The threshold for BoD approval is probably lower than you expect. Most major attractions are presented to the board for approval.

He's like that off-message too. Pleasant enough but hardly the Hollywood mogul of old. Significantly less personality than MDE. Most like a county supervisor. He isn't the most engaging person at the Company.

Then it's a good thing that I didn't get too excited about that meeting.

Why not? Major portions of the park are already closed or scheduled to be closed. Putting them behind a construction wall won't make much difference. They could shut down the entire Streets of America section and not really lose anything. I can't imagine they will do too much with the Hollywood Blvd/Sunset Blvd/Echo Lake areas... those sections of the park work pretty well at present. They need new shows in the Sound and TV building, but that can be done without closing anything around it.

That goes without saying. I can't imagine Iger hosting a weekly TV show, much less opining on architecture and theme park design. Eisner had charisma and charm to spare and then some. From customer point of view Iger has the personality of a bed post in comparison.

So does that mean that Star Wars additions (real ones, not just the Star Wars museum) may not be happening just yet?

At an entertainment company it's probably pretty tough to be the most engaging person. That said, my impression is that he isn't even in the top half of the most engaging people at the company. I'm an introvert and love hanging out with other introverts myself, but he just seems kind of cold even by my standards

    >>Maybe that was what they were talking about at he BoD meeting.<<

I was wondering about that as well. Given that they were ready to take this to the City and the press so quickly, I imagine it has been in the works for a long time; it doesn't seem like the sort of thing that would have been approved yesterday and been announced today. It seems like this announcement is part of Disney's slow plan to try and use their clout to sway the City on their side

And given how very little detail is in the article, I wouldn't even be surprised if the Board wasn't involved at all. It's not too much of a stretch to think that Disney will spend that sort of money improving their property and the surrounding infrastructure over the course of the next decade or two

    >>And, can we please stop using the name Bob Iger and the word BOD in the same sentence?<<

    Does Iger have "dad bod"?

I'm an introvert and hate hanging out with other introverts. I don't need more awkward silence than I already have.

It's only awkward if you make it awkward. There doesn't need to always be noise; a thoughtful silence can be much more exciting than another conversation about the weather! : )

I'm comfortable with silence most times. But in a social situation, give me an extrovert please. Say, if I'm having drinks with someone, it better be an extrovert.

You guys don't realize what you would be missing if I were still an introvert.
