Yes, 91% VACANT. This despite assurances from certain folks (folks responsible for that stuff) kept saying that advance bookings for the day were solid. It's a very slow time of year in general for the resort, but this was kind of a rude shocker. I don't know what other hotels suffered similar losses. But yeah, no matter what... this is a four park resort. There's really no need and no compelling reason to dream up another theme to hold an entire park together. There's so much that can be done with any of the existing parks now.

I am curious to know what the occupancy rates were for the less expensive hotel. A comparison like that could be telling. <<Could fit in the TDS volcano as "Vulcania Island" as part of a "Pacific Ocean" region with animals from the Galapagos Islands or perhaps Australia or New Zealand.>> Agreed. I would love to see that in DAK. For the Studios, do Indiana Jones. For the longest time I thought the Mermaid Lagoon would be perfect. But now - I think Mermaid Lagoon would be great for the back of Fantasyland.

Alternatively, if you would put the Volcano directly behind the castle it could be done in such a way that when looking at castle down Main Street the volcano would be completely unseen - then upon walking through the gates of the castle and entering Fanstasyland, one could be surprised/amazed/astounded by the volcano as it came into view. 3. You could build the volcano in the same manner in which they did BTMRR and Space Mountain - far on the park periphery. You could go, for instance, build it on the other side of the train station for Tomorrowland/Toontown station.

It would be interesting to see how that promotion was doing in terms of the number of guests taking advantage of it.

I'm sure the value and moderates are likely doing better than the deluxes, but 9% at the PolY??? That's 9/11 type numbers. As for JTTCOTE, the park where it was rumored to be going was DAK ... basically where BK was supposed to be built. I heard rumors of it being announced on the team's 10th anniversary in 2008. But those rumors have gone silent ...

The distance from it, the castle, to the old 20k leagues site is not far enough to hide it. It would still be seen as a volcano behind the castle until one was directly in front of the-------------------STOP STOP STOP--------------------------------------------------- forget that, it COULD work AND you wouldn't have to hide it! So sorry, I had blinders on. Lets say they re-theme it to a VILLAINS MOUNTAIN and instead of a Lava Beast, "The Climax" could be you have traveled by mistake into Malificence Lair and she transforms into the Dragon before your eyes! Then, seeking to silence you, chases you thru the caverns...not only appearing once but multiple times. So sorry, I was taking JTTCOTE literally not thinking outside the box for a moment. My bad

The buildings on Main Street would block the view for a good part of the walk, and the trees and Fantasyland showbuildings could also hide it from the hub, to some extent. Only after entering Fantasyland would you really see the whole scope of the mountain. It may also be visible from other areas, but would still fit in with each land (except possible Toon Town Fair, but the close proximity could actually help it become less visible, as the buildings could cover a higher percentage of the mountain. And if the castle can be seen from all over the park and not be cited for theme issues, than a mountain would certainly fit in.

I'm not sure how much of the space it would need...if there was room, putting in Prince Eric's ship adjacent and creating an area similar to the old Hook's ship/Skull Cove that was in DL and can be seen currently in Paris, would be great. It would also allow a small lake/water area in Fantasyland and compliment the Mermaid themeing.

But the big stuff is planned for the 2008-10 timeframe when pretty much everything from the Orange Stinger to Golden Dreams is torn out and replaced with a new San Francisco concept. At the same time the remnants of Paradise Pier located within the footprint of California Screamin' get the full Pixar treatment with the characters of Toy Story taking over the boardwalk. The focus for all of this is squarely on the family market, with the intense Maliboomer space shot type of ride even being turned into a much tamer parachute drop similar to the one Knott's Berry Farm had for many years, except this one would be themed to the Green Army Men from Toy Story. With the Orange Stinger, Golden Zephyr, Jumpin' Jellyfish and Mulholland Madness all removed, there would be room for Lasseters big-budget family E-Ticket based on the movie Cars and themed to San Francisco, including cars zipping down a remade Lombard Street. The folks at WDI were impressed with all of the attention John Lasseter has been giving to the Submarine Voyage, and they're even more impressed with the bigger budgets John is able to get from Jay Rasulo simply due to the political clout he has with Bob Iger. <<
