Of course Monsters Inc. and Finding Nemo are already featured prominantly in Hollywood. I think DCA will soon be PCA. ..and let's not forget what is happening to Tomorrowland...

Seriously, just redo the front entrance of DCA to entering the 'Incredibles' city inspired area with all your favorite Incredible super heroes signing autographs. When you done with that, hit Monster's Inc backlot area (TOT ties in nicely with Monster's in a weird way, don't you think?), then hit FFF next, go to GRR OR now the appropriately named "Incredibles island" where the raft ride will now take you on a story fill journey from the movie and the family fight to get off the island with that pesky robot (hey, not bad!). Of course, then there is now Carland where you can hang out with your favorite CARS characters. Let's not forget PP, or now Woody's wacky toy world where the Toy Story characters invade all over with midway mania! California Screaming now has a nice overlay of Buzz and Woody through their way back to the car to make it back to Andy!! We're not through yet though. There is Block Party of course, the nighttime Pixar inspired show and a small area in the Animation studio showcasing Pixar's latest concept art of future movies. It's all Pixar, Pixar, Pixar!!!!! Seriously, its ALL going that way anyway, why fight the future? California? What's that?

Some people need to stop companing untilt ehy see whats in development for the park. DCA WILL NOT loose its California theme it will just have Disney elements included. As for the old route 66, there are other plans for this land that will completely change it within a few years. As for DCA NEVER having the same attraction count as Disneyland because of restrictions, well we won't know that until the park turns 50. Non of the second or third gates have ever had the same attraction count as the Main kingdom parks. Don't say never though. you have no idea how easy it is to relocate and move things around and alter the parks layout. Disneyland's layout has changed tremendously since its opening date. many would never have guessed that an attraction like Indy could have been placed in adventureland (oh and if westcot had been built this attraction probably would have never since its existence here in anaheim since the spot it was built on was suppose to be a replica of Avalon Coves Casino building at a waters edge for a much larger DTD but thats another story that proves things could easily be changed and moved) As for Carland. Yes it might have the Disney Pixar characters but its main theme is a California desert

The lagoon and Avalon inspired structures accupied the area that is presently DownTown Disney and the west esplanade.
Originally Posted By DlandDug >>...what better man-made symbol of California is there than the GG Bridge?<< Complete agreement here. The idea is that the Golden Gate serves as the symbolic entrance to California. Unfortunately, there was nothing to really support this idea in the rest of the disjointed architecture that made up the entrance experience for DCA. (But it does serve to establish a major weakness in the park overall!)

Freeway overpass, as in the more ornate concrete overpasses that were built in the 1930s. Some still exist today. If Disney intends to transform the entrance and hub area into a "1930s Transportation" themed concept, then the freeway overpass idea would make sense. >>>I have to say that this sounds downright stupid. I mean c'mon, what better man-made symbol of California is there than the GG Bridge?<<< I agree that the majesty of the REAL GG Bridge is second to none, and as a symbol of California, ranks at or near the top of the list. But the stupid cartooney foreshortened squished down GG bridge that was stuck in the front of DCA was just another example of the amateurish design and planning that DCA suffers from. And since the park has put such a bad taste in the collective mouths of the public, I'm sure Disney is looking for any relatively inexpensive opportunity to remove things that remind folks of the Old DCA in their effort to transform the park into the New DCA. So Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish, I say.

Oh and i know that the original mainstreet adn hub layout is still intact. But he park has changed dramaticaaly since its opening date. Walkways have been relocated, planters have been moved and additions have been done. Even full rivers are no longer visible to guests that were there in openind day. When New Orleans was added that whole section of the park with its bridge over the river connecting the rivers of america to jungle cruise has been blocked from guest views.

As noted, additions have been made. The biggest change to the original footprint are the connections that were added between lands. But no major changes were made to the original footprint to achieve this. The "river" described above was nothing more than a small waterway no more than the width of the bridge. That waterway still exists, although it is now buried beneath the pavement of New Orleans Square. We agree that Disneyland has, indeed, changed. But I disagree that the original layout has been significantly altered.

Even the area with Big Thunder Mountain, Trail, and Ranch has changed dramatically since the old Stage Coach and Mine Train days. Ok, lands haven't been torn out whole-cloth, but they have certainly made use of the space that is there and radically altered much of it.

(That's just to the left of center, across from the "casino" building based on Avalon.) There are three buildings. The one at the bottom is the Haunted Mansion, the center one is Pirates of the Caribbean, and the top one (adjacent to the Casino) is the proposed Indiana Jones building. It's much more evident in the plan view.

I should have mentioned that the other major change was the relocation of the berm and railroad tracks on the west and north sides of the property.
