Unfortunately I am under even more time constraints to hurry and book as we just found out yesterday that dh's boss does not want him taking vacation from mid-November through Christmas as they are busier then with the holidays. So now I'm trying to figure out the least crowded time to go in October or early November. The first week of November seems like it might be the best choice. October seems pretty busy with lots of school breaks going on and the Halloween stuff. I'm leaning toward the first week of November or the first or last week of October. It would be fun to see the Halloween festivities. Which week do you think will be least crowded in October? What do you guys think?

Its just a really nice property and the staff, including security, I feel are the best of the 3 resort hotels. Their pool has a great slide that works well for little ones too, it slows you down right before landing in shallow water. The walk is not a big deal to us and we've done it with very young and very old in our groups. We always cut thru the GCH no matter which park we are headed to , there is also the option of requesting a golf cart to take you to the mono. And to add to Goofballs oh so dramatic description of Harbor Blvd, what we've been annoyed with is delivery trucks and garbage trucks at 6 AM, you just dont get that at the resort hotels (or other large complex hotels) as they are an escape from the real world. Having interior hallways just seem more quiet and safe than exterior corridor motels. Its not that the Harbor strip is any worse than say, Katella, or other busy roads, but just to compare off-site vs. on-site. These are the things to consider when spending those extra dollars. Don't forget unlimited early entry to name another. We do love Candy Cane too, their private shuttle is very handy and their free breakfast is actually good, but I think the rooms would be cramped for your group. I would say the 1st week of Nov is about the least crowded in the fall. After Halloween but before Vets Day. Good luck!
