The original link keeps getting updated. Recently, there has been this addition: "Barrett will get only pro forma support from the Boston Police Patrolmen's Association which condemned the e-mail, but said it is contractually obligated to protect his rights at a disciplinary hearing." Every PBA I've ever known about has been pretty fierce in defending its members, unless it's an absolutely open and shut case where the officer is in the wrong (or caught doing something corrupt, say). The fact that this one has condemned the email and is offering only pro forma support tells you that this guy is toast.
