My son is starting his testing/blood work as there is a family history of heart disease on my in-laws side of the family. He is not too happy about it but that's too bad. We were told by a cardiologist that plaque starts to build up around age 11. I don't understand why it's 11 and not sooner but who am I too argue. Truly heartbreaking. I feel such sorrow for the family.

You know, I was just talking to my husband about that same thing. Why is it that all of the deaths so happen to be heart related.

Jane comes from money herself so I'm not sure money would have been a motivating factor for her. She sure did marry smart though. She is always a very gracious host.

Maybe I'm just trying to find the good? I dunno.

I still feel awful for the kid and his family.

    >>The 12-year-old boy who died after riding a Walt Disney World roller coaster had a congenital heart defect, a medical examiner ruled Friday.

The autopsy of Michael Russell was done one day after he passed out while riding Disney-MGM's Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. His father, an Iraq war veteran, performed CPR on the boy, but Michael was pronounced dead at a hospital.

"No evidence of injury was found but congenital heart abnormalities were detected, which will be further evaluated," the Orange County medical examiner's office said in a statement.

The cause of death was left pending until additional test are conducted, Dr. Sara H. Irrgang, an associate medical examiner, ruled. <<

With all due respect to grandma, please don't let an incident like this scare you off of an attraction. In fact, after a fatality on a ride, that ride would be just about the safest place to be, what with all of the inspections and scrutiny.

Actually, I'd think just the opposite. If it happened while he was home or at school, then it just becomes one of those things. But now Walt Disney World, that place that we all love and dream about, will hold nothing but a nightmare memory for this family. And that is very very sad.

If I were able to go on RnRc, I would still go on. It had nothing to do with the ride itself. Like VB and Ursula stated, it could have happened anywhere.

It was a scary thing to see him in the hospital and not know if he was going to make it. He came through with flying colors and is now 5 but we have to keep a close watch on him.

Well, in December 2004, days before Xmas.. we had to rush my father from his hotel at WDW to Disney's Celebration Resort Hospital, then airlifted to a real hospital in downtown Orlando for a triple by-pass emergency operation. So I know what it feels like to be impacted by heart desease.
