    Nope, they're always like that.

Sadly, probably the best pancakes to be found in Japan are at McDonalds (though I'm DEFINITELY going to check out Nezumi's recommendation!).

    *sigh*

You can pretty much get anything you want in Japan (including, obviously, INCREDIBLE Japanese food) except for three things...breakfast, great Italian food, and great Mexican food.

Same with Mexican food. At least in Japan, you may not fine great authentic Mexican food but you still got El Torito at least. I love that place :). I ONLY eat in Japan but its good!

And send me my PM back punk!!!

That would be a major showstopper for me.

I know I don't come here too much like I use to. Mainly because I havent been to Japan in almost 3 years now :(. And not too busy in this section either.

Would LOVE to rectify that though and thinking if I can pull it together, I would like to come back next year around the time Fantasmic opens! And plus there will be a few other things new for me there as well. We'll see :).

Hadn't even thought about the latter two but very true. It has always been a bugbear of mine that I hate Japanese brekkie. All that salad, congee and rice - yuk! Thank God for the Hilton though - I'm actually so happy when the three TDR hotels are full and we get put in the Hilton. Getting any egg product makes my day - omelet!

    Haha!

I'm really not a rice fan at all (noodle man!) and it is firmly a non-breakfast ingredient for me! :)

It's like they intentionally came up with a breakfast tease (restaurants dedicated to freakin omelets for pete's sake), and then spit into the mixing bowl.

Rice makes me angry (except for rice pudding, I like rice pudding...but the Japanese DON'T like rice pudding so there's no freakin rice pudding in Japan!).

A lack of rice pudding makes me angry!

In the United Kingdom we have had both KFC and Pizza Hut for a number of years. Taco Bell has only recently open up over here at the Lakeside Shopping Centre. Maybe Management don't have much confidence serving this brand to International markets. Like it does with fried chicken and pizza.

*** According the the official Japanese site, there are 73 KFC locations in Osaka Prefecture. However, many tend to be in regional shopping malls outside of city center. ***

Cheers for that. I did visit a lot of places and found many of the Fast Food brands like Mc Donalds and Mos Burger. I guess I was expecting to find a KFC on the same block as a Mcdonalds like its done in Tokyo.

Actually we had Taco Bell back in the eighties - there were a couple in London. Pepsico had closed them way before the spin-off. They just couldn't compete (much like Wendy's).

There are a few Mexican take-out places in London now trying to capture part of the lucrative lunchtime traffic. One brand is Chilango. It seems we go through all of these fads eventually - I remember when bagels were big and there were several chains. It seems none survived except for Bagel Street.

LOL! 'Chilango' is a derogatory word used to describe people from Mexico City (by other Mexicans)
