And I could see Mike being an ally. He's definitely a mercenary. He's too good a character to just disappear. I know Walt pretty much HAS to stay in the drug business or there's no more show. I just think they need to present a compelling "why" after he's been fearing for his life all year and was willing to ditch it all and get a new identity (only to discover he didn't have the money). <Last night revealed how far he has turned since the beginning of the series, and the last season either has to be somehow him getting his redemption or going all in.> I agree. Notice how calmly he shot those guys in the laundry? Earlier-seasons-Walt could never have done that. Hank's going to know he was right about the laundry (and about Fring) after they investigate the fire and inevitably find traces of the operation. That might make him lead investigator as "Heisenberg"'s product reappears.

One more thing about this season. We know the acting has been uniformly great especially from Cranston and Paul. But how about the guy who played Tio. Has there ever been a better performance by someone using their eyes and breathing heavily through their nose.

But that's why you got the vibe that Walt could walk away from it at this point if he chose to.
