You need energy to build and manufacture goods. You need energy to transport goods to market. We will continue to use more energy, but in the meantime, we should use alternative sources and look for more oil in our own lands. I realize that oil won't last forever. It may only last a few more hundreds of years. There will only be two conclusions.... (1) a soft landing with alternative energy sources, or (2) a hard landing when the oil runs out.

Originally Posted By RC Collins The thing about these polls is that people hearing the results forget that not everyone who is unhappy with Bush's performance are tilting Left, or against the Iraq war, etc. Some of the people are unhappy with his performence because they want him to be more conservative, or because they wanted him to nominate someone like Robert Bork to the Supreme Court, or they want him to build a huge wall along the borders and staff it with military personnel, or they want him to stop spending money on social programs, or call for the abolotion of the Department of Education. Not all of the people are thinking like Democrats or Greens. And when the rubber meets the road, as in elections (he's not going to run again, but some Republican will, and the 2006 Congressional elections are coming up), a lot of those people unhappy with Bush's handling of things are going to vote for the Republican over the Democrat.
