He doesn't indulge in all this nonsense Douglas does. As a result, he is respected around here rather than lampooned. I'll respect any conservative who can do the same, and I think most liberals and moderates here will too.

You've admitted that you don't KNOW Gore's GPA (though you said you could provide it); but it "must" be lower than Bush's, and you found that conjecture on blogs - i.e. opinion pieces. It's you who is relying on opinion and conjecture, and yet saying (initially) you were "quite sure" about it, which indicates it is you who has the trouble distinguishing between fact and opinion.

There's specific examples I can provide (unlike you - perhaps like Douglas you're just too darn busy) such as the thread you started about how those critical of Bush took pleasure in the death of a police officer since he was riding in Bush's motorcade. You (rightly) took a beating for that one and looked pretty foolish in the process. Right now on the Patraeus ad thread, you continued to respond to things no one said - insisting the ad was unfair when no one had said it was. You make little sarcastic quips about how the left has no extremists, even though no one on the left has ever said otherwise. So try seeing the "usual suspects" for what they are instead of as the boogey man you've invented.

I usually use another analogy but trying hard to be PC - sometimes now I do view myself as moderate with conservative leanings -- just depends on the topic, but that's a quibble in the scheme of things. Conservative has become almost as bad a word as liberal these days due to the extremes who choose to use that title incorrectly - I do not want to be associated with them.

But you guys are the same group who regularly attacked Beau for the methods he used. Yet when I, DlandDug, Douglas Kennesaw Tom or DarkBeer post something, it's met with derision. If you want an example, look at the responses to DarkBeer's posts. Granted I'm not a fan of just posting articles without some sort of commentary, there was no need to have people post recipes or articles on the dung beetle. <<There's specific examples I can provide (unlike you - perhaps like Douglas you're just too darn busy) such as the thread you started about how those critical of Bush took pleasure in the death of a police officer since he was riding in Bush's motorcade. To the credit of many Bush haters here he received a pass. The only thing I brought up with the Patreaus ad was that we all thought the ad was as despicable as the Fred Phelps protesting soldiers funerals. I just wanted to make sure everyone still thought that way. There's no doubt it was a waste of time and taxpayers money for this to be brought to a vote, but then again our government is known for these things. <<You make little sarcastic quips about how the left has no extremists, even though no one on the left has ever said otherwise. When talking about the right or the left it's not exclusive to what people on these boards say.

Of course I’m talking about the dung beetle, whose favorite saying is “Life is bliss because dung happens!†Dung beetles have down-to-earth thoughts such as, “The tastiest morsels are grown in manure. So why not just eat the manure and skip the rest?†These guys have the basics down and never have to worry about the food pyramid. They don’t have to cook (the seasoning of their “dung delight†has already been taken care of) and they never have to worry about tipping the waiter. Most of them just worry about how to get a sled of sludge into their house. Sometimes, the dung is the house. After an exhaustive 15 minutes of research on Google, I have found that there is as much interest and devotion to the dung beetle as there is to recipes for apple pie. Because I know that you are more than likely in a hurry to take another sip of that delicious cup of tea that you always fix yourself before reading The Source, I will just give you a few tasty facts about dung. Let’s start with mistletoe. Mistel is the Anglo-Saxon word for “dung†and tan is the word for “twig.†Therefore, mistletoe means “dung-on-a-twig.†I don’t know why “toe†is not the word for “twig†or why we don’t all smooch under the mistletan. Next holiday season, just as you are puckering up, remember that you are kissing under a twig of dung. Which I’m sure would make every dung beetle reading this article giggle with glee."
