Who gives a rip what Clinton did? This is the big mistake guys like you make all the time. If someone doesn't like Bush, they must be a democrat and like Clinton. Wrong, son.

No, the mistake is not realizing how Bush's policy differs from Clinton's and that stem cell research funding by the federal government, despite the restriction, is more liberal NOW than in the past.

I'd bet dollars to donuts you haven't read the book, but instead did a Google search on Washington as christian and found the one book that came up on the topic. If you have read it, I'll apologize in advance and wait while you tell us all about it.

In the meantime, I did some quick looking at the authors. Peter A. Lillback received his Ph.D from the Westminster Theological Seminary, who, according to their website's mission statement "exists to extend the knowledge of the glory of God in Christ until that knowledge covers the earth as the waters cover the sea." Lillback now teaches at the seminary.

One of Westminster's core values is "Scripture, as the "very Word of God written," is absolutely authoritative and without error."

Jerry Newcombe is host of an evangelical radio show. He has also produced several television shows for Pax religious network on topics such as creationism vs. evolution, the Ten Commandments in public, the ACLU, and indecency on the airwaves.

The book itself is a polemical response to historians who have long demonstrated that Washington was, in fact, closer to Deism than Christianity. Of course, these historians have done so over the years because that's simply where the evidence has led. They have read Washington's own words and drawn the conclusion.

Newcombe and Lillback, on the other hand, have a very specific agenda according to the book's description on their website, and that is to refute that Washington was a Deist. The two men have absolutely no publications in the world of academia and have worked exclusively in right-wing evangelical Christian organizations.

Beau, the book isn't even on Amazon.com. Heck, my book is even on Amazon.com and it's an obscure limited edition of 500 copies on an obscure early Utahn.

Beau I'd like to hear if you've read the book or not, how you learned about it, and if this is all you really have for us. Otherwise, I'll continue to refer you to Pulitzer prize winning academics who have long determined that Washington was a Deist.

Scientists have used stem cells and a soup of nerve-friendly chemicals to not just bridge a damaged spinal cord but actually regrow the circuitry needed to move a muscle, helping partially paralyzed rats walk.

Years of additional research is needed before such an experiment could be attempted in people.

But the work marks a tantalizing new step in stem cell research that promises to one day help repair damage from nerve-destroying illnesses such as Lou Gehrig's disease, or from spinal cord injuries."

Thanks for that post, Crouching Tigger. I hadn't heard of this particular study yet, but the idea of repairing damage from Lou Gehrig's is very near & dear to my heart. Thank you.

As much as liberals would like to re-write history and pretend the founders were a bunch of chap wearing gay marriage fans who demanded a wall of seperation it simply isn't true. In fact, the reason I am not into debating it is because it is so obvious your wrong and once again confused. Why not read the founding documents a little and the preambles of the States to see the religious influence.

You remind me of the guy who insists the earth is flat who also insists on calling me out because he had a few "sources" that backed him up. You just laugh it off.

Again, the evidence that our country was not founded to be a liberal secualr nation in everywhere. If the libs would stop playing games and insulting our facts of history they might get some respect. If they want to change the country into secular Eurpope then just admit you want to change America.

But to pretend our founders were deists is pretty lame. Even IF they were, these men took the Christian bible as their moral base for our laws and how the country was going to be set up. Again, go to the ACLU thread where I take STPH behind the woodshed once again about the establishment clause. It's all there.
