I don't think you are, but my God man, why get so cranked about it?

I won’t respond to any additional post you make on this thread because I’ve really said everything (and more) that I want to say on the topic. I see no point in continuing the argument.

It will mean more room in the emergency rooms.

    Teachers can teach in English.

I might actually have someone say "Thank you" as I pick up my burger at the drivethru window. Instead of a nod and a smirk.

You CLEARLY were calling me RACIST with THAT statement. And THAT was akin to Character assassination! AND Yes, I have a Right to be Upset when someone assaults my character and THEN insults my intelligence! CLEARLY with no apology.

And in your attempt at any arguement regarding the topic at hand, You have the gaul to compare the civil right's movement of the 1960's with illegal aliens, who have not respected the laws of the US from the time they set foot in this country.

Instead, you resort to assault, then get upset because I think your wrong for that. Then you stick your finger in your ears and cover your eyes so you can't hear or see me? YOUR level of discourse amazes me.

So, if a cd is on display, and there is no one around to buy it, will anyone actually hear it?

Oh, you may have seen me post it elsewhere, but the 1st time I voted in Arizona, I was apalled the the election ballot was in BOTH English and spanish?!?!? What the heck ?!?!?!

At one time during my career, I helped a lady with some professional businesss. I was speaking English, of course, but she couldn't speak english very well, but I helped her several times over the course of two to three years. She always brought her 3 young children with her, (about ages 1, 6, and 7 years old, at first meet). Quite oftentimes her oldest daughter would translate for us. BUT NEVER during the course of those years did that woman's English ever improve.

I was brought up in the US School Systems, and taught English. That darn well be the official language of the US and Business within the US.

A few weeks ago the students at my daughter's high school had a very organized protest regarding this whole immigration issue. (My daughter DID NOT participate due to her own opinions on the subject.)

In order for the protest to not interfere with the school day it began at 7:00am. The principal and the teachers were on hand to direct traffic and make sure that the kids were safe. When the first bell rang at 7:30am the kids were gently guided to class and they dropped their signs off in one area on their way to their lockers. A teacher was assigned to gather the signs and keep them until the end of the school day.

Five minutes before school got out student organizers were let out five minutes early to get ready for the afternoon protest. Again, teachers were on hand to direct traffic through the parking lot in order to make sure that the kids were safe. In the end, the kids got to protest without disrupting their school day. All teachers and the principal were completely respectful of the students' opinions whether they agreed with them or not.

Even though my daughter didn't particpate I was able to see how they did this first hand because I was at the high school before and after school for different things.

The latin american community has already proven that it can generate large numbers in a protest/rally type event. Unfortunately, those sorts of events no longer have the influence they once did. The population is no longer concentrated within blocks of a city's courthouse square and, for the most part, big city protests don't reach the outlying communities.

If you are going to walkout or boycott, I think it is appropriate for the walkout to be disruptive. Otherwise, why bother? I don't think it matters if you are a student, employee, etc. Arranging participation in these sorts of events so that it doesn't inconvenience anyone or cause any disruptions is counter to the purpose for which they were organized in the first place.
