I worry about the American attitude toward education, engineering specifically. And I worry about our immigration policies. If we persist in this idea that innovation will only come from within America, I think we're going to miss out on the next Sun Microsystems, Google and Intel.>>

No. It's because now legal immigration has been made virtually impossible. If immigration laws in the mid-late 19th Century were like they are now we'd be a nation of British and little else.

The thing this guy is missing is the fact that the illegals coming from Mexico have very little education and they are not exactly good candidates to invent anything important. We are getting the poor and uneducated from a different coutry. How nice.

Compare this to the immigrants who came here from Europe LEGALLY in our history.

These people had many in their ranks that were brilliant and hardly uneducated unwanted refugees.

The great majority of advnacements past and present have been brought about by the genius and inovations of yes..... the white male.

Want to challenge me on this go ahead. I will give you the key inventions from the last 200 years and show that it's the European white guy doing the inventing the MAJORITY of the time.

This does not discredit the many contriburions coming from non whites, but the facts are....most of our biggest and most importand inventions come from the white male.

Mexico is not sending us the guy who is going to invent the flying car or the star Trek style transporter. They are sending us their poor uneducated welfare cases. Sure they will work, but are they really helping us in the long run or are they bringing us down to their level?

Why is Mexico a 3rd world country compared to America when they have the same opportunity as we do in this world? All they have to do is peek over the Tiajuana wall to see how it is done.. and they STILL have a dirty broke down country.

    Why??

Corruption??? Why do they have a government that allows corruption?? Smart people don't allow this as a working policy.

    We took our share:

<<•In 2004, 11,708 of the 946,142 immigrants admitted to the U.S. intended to reside in Minnesota. That means Minnesota receives approximately 1.2% of all new foreign-born arrivals (2).>>

    innesota.html</a>

Minnesota's population as a percentage of U.S. population is 1.7%, so we didn't take quite our share but took far more than most people would imagine for a far north state. And we did it without all the pissing and moaning and wringing of heads that appears to occur in other parts of the country.
