Remember that Jewish persecution was done in stages. It evolved from the occasional rock being thrown through a Jewish dental office front window of the late 1920's all the way to the 'final solution' days of early 1942. Many did hide their Jewish identity but for those who looked Jewish(Natzi Party loyalists actually used charts and tools to measure noses and skull shapes) or refused to hide(millions) did not fully know their fate, full scale holocaust, until it was too late. For countless getting on board those cattle cars meant greener grasses, not insect gasses, from the famine, disease and filth of ghettos.

To answer your question: no, not so much. I doubt that most ad viewers would make that connection since the ad profiled the injustices of Japanese/those of Japanese decent and blacks.> But then why not use a "Japanese voice?" I'm at a bit of a disadvantage here, never having seen or heard the ad. The whole "obvious black voice" is itself a whole can of worms. But if it was a "white voice" detailing the past history of blacks and Japanese Americans, then what is the viewer to think? That this is a person sympathetic to the plight of others, and therefore in this context... straight? And so this person is speaking for all straight people? I see what you're saying, but ultimately this is a no-win proposition if you follow it logically. <<One can only assume that the black actor they used was on board with it.>> <Yes, I'd say that is a safe assumptuion. Now, if he was paid $5 million to narrate then who knows? LOL> So should a black actor on board with "no on 8" be disqualified from being the narrator because some people MIGHT misconstrue what it all was "supposed" to mean? <<Is he expected to represent his entire race,>> <Normally(meaning if he is appearing in more public roles like movies, doing standup comedy or playing sports), absolutely not but in this case/context 'yes'.> Well, I don't think so. He has as much right as anyone to be the narrator. You took his presence to mean one thing - others might take his presence to mean something else entirely. <I appreciate #150--- a nice response to mine.> Thank you.
