We were told by the receptionist that we were the lucky group to come while the Recruiters were having their weekly meetings. She mentioned it usually takes two to two and a half hours maximum. As far as my answers went.... "Why Disney?" It's a family thing. I've come to Disneyland since I was a child and I've always loved it. I just want to be a part of the magic.(cheesey, I know) "Why these jobs?" (on my app I went for Specialty Stores, Photo Imaging or Specialty Restaurants) Photo is my passion and I know alot about cameras and editing softwares. Specialty restaurants because I have a little bit of experience waitressing and being a hostess so I think I would do really well there. And to be honest Specialty shops was the only position available on the "open position" list when I applied that sounded interesting to me. "What are your long term goals in or outside of our company?" Within the nex five years I want to have my degree in photo and I want to be persuing it. It would be wonderful if I could be an event photographer for Disney or do something along those lines. I'm definitely here to get my foot in the door and to work my way up and stay in this company. I would also love to be an imagineer. I think I'm pretty creative and it's always intrigued me. "A family is really excited for the fireworks. Two hours before the show they ask you where is the best place to view them. Where do you direct them and why?" Main Street between Coke Corner and the Kodak photo store. It's perfect, you can see the castle and the partners statue and matterhorn...you can see everything! "Fast forward two hours. The fireworks get cancelled due to weather and the family is very upset. They track you down and begin to complain and yell at you. How do you help them and handle the situation?" I would sincerely apologize to them and direct them to City Hall. I'm sure a CM there would be able to take down their complaint and possibly do something to compensate them for their time. "A family has been trying to eat at Blue Bayou. They've been at the resort for five days and they called prior to their trip but just can't get in. You're the hostess and they are really upset with you. What do you tell them?" I would again sincerely apologize and inform them that it is a peak season and we are completely booked. I would tell them they could wait around the lobby and hope that someone doesn't show up for their reservation or refer them to Cafe Orleans as the food is also really good there. "You're still a hostess at the Blue Bayou. Its our busiest night of the year and the guests who have priority seating have been waiting for their tables for 45 minutes. How do you interact with them to ensure they stay happy and will enjoy their dinner?" Create small conversations focused on the guests good experiences of the day. Answer any questions the guests may have. Offer a look at the menu while they're waiting. Be lighthearted and jovial. Anything to get their mind off the wait and on to the good experiences of the day. That's all that were Disney related, the rest were pertaining to me as a person.

Thank you for sharing this experience with all of us, and best of luck with your new adventure! I can totally see how the idea of your own name badge would really make it hit home that you were going to be a CM.

I treated her like a teacher so I wouldn't be intimidated or uncomfortable. I took notice of things in her office as I walked in to create a little ice breaker chat. (An entire corner of her office was covered in Tiki-Room stuff, especially the SHAG merchandise). I tried really hard to always say YES instead of UH-HUH, YEAH and SURE, and other such interview stuff.

I think it's easier to know who you want when you find out right away that someones schedule isn't what you need or that maybe they don't have the exact skills you may want for guest interaction. I can understand why they changed it. It probably saves the recruiters ALOT of time and gives them the opportunity to give the more "qualified" prospects more time and focus in placing them in a job. I'm hoping this doesn't sound snobby. lol.
