Each dispatch is less than one minute I think, so you wouldn't have to do too much more than that to make 50 a minute (i.e. 3 launches in 2 minutes would be six boats or 120 people, or 60 people per minute, for a THC of 3600).

Now, of course, that's theoretical, and actual will be lower. But I do remember reading that the THC of POTC was over 3000.

This was the first time I'd ever seen it, and in keeping with my new policy of trying to be more of a glass-half-full person, let me say that I enjoyed the first part of it more than I had expected to, that some of the 3D effects actually worked for me, and that the bouncing floor wasn't too hard to ignore after a while. ;-)

Cirque to put on Jackson show

    AP Tues., April 20, 2010

LOS ANGELES - First the Beatles and Elvis, now Michael Jackson.

The acrobatic troupe Cirque du Soleil announced Tuesday that it will put on a live touring show featuring the songs of the King of Pop starting late next year.

That will be followed by a permanent production in Las Vegas in 2012 at a property owned by MGM Mirage Inc. The casino company did not say which venue will host the show. A nightclub in Las Vegas will also open with the show.

"Having attended Cirque du Soleil performances with Michael, I know he was a huge fan," John Branca, the co-executor of the estate, said in a statement. "We are excited to be partners with Cirque du Soleil to give Michael's fans a truly unique way to hear, see and feel Michael's music."

Jackson's mother, Katherine, added in a statement, "Our family is thrilled that Cirque du Soleil will pay tribute to my son in such an important way."

    -----------------------------------------

Having seen several of these productions over the years, I'm kinda "cirque'd out" generally. But I have to admit that an MJ themed show might get me to part with my ticket money.

I'd probably be more likely to see a big production show in vegas than a traveling "tent show" in a parking lot. Something about the permanent installation in a modern theater allows for bigger snazzier elements, better sound, and more comfy seating.

The thumping floor was just funny - it was like being in a big bouncy house watching the film. I don't know if it was because we sat in the very last row (normally wheelchair access) but it was not at all in sync with the show and I eventually just started laughing at how absurd it was.

Like every few seconds, bounce bounce, crotch shot, bounce.

And ridiculousness of the bouncing aside, the film is a lot more entertaining then HISTA ever was.

Try to think back: Was HISTA bad the first time you saw it, or did it get bad because of repetition? I think I enjoyed the first time I saw HISTA more than the first time I saw EO.

While today I certainly wouldn't call it 'great', with the excitement surrounding it that first time I saw it, it was much more of an experience.

I don't think he ever realized it was the guy sitting behind him that did it.
