You have to scroll down a bit.

I can't wait until the ship is refurbished. It was in such a bad state and it was really sad to see the ship in that condition.

It actually wasn't part of the 'original' park that opened in 1955. While the ship was there from the very beginning, Skull Rock wasn't added until around '61. I'm not sure what inspired them to add it, but it definitely added a lot to the atmosphere of the area (in pictures, at least, since I wasn't around before they tore it out).

As a side note, I just realized that there's a small waterfall in the place of DL's Skull Rock now. I guess they needed something to transition from Monstro to the landscaping, but it's interesting that they went with something so similar to what was there before (just without the Skull Rock itself).

"You have missed out Hans, Adventure Isle is fantastic, with skeletons, treasure, a hidden skull over a rock throne, a seasaw rock, the bridges like TSI, and the roots of the treehouse where you can peer up for a new perspective (this inspired much of the look of Animal Kingdom including the Tree of Life)."

I've been to DLP three times and never bothered to visit because I'm usually just visiting for the day, but I'll be sure to check it the next time. I've only stayed overnight once.

You might be interested to know that Tony Baxter ordered Hook's ship removed from the new FL but then later MIGHTILY regretted it! He admitted it was a very big mistake.

It would have been interesting to see how that would have worked out! That area has always seemed out of place to me, so it's an interesting concept to carry on the Fantasyland theme back there (and even more interesting, considering how far removed from the Peter Pan attraction it would be).

I think there was a misunderstanding, because I was talking about the ship. The ship seen in the artcile Dr. Hans Reainhardt provided seems to be bigger than the ship in DLP.

But DL is a lot smaller than DLP, so I could see the Jolly Roger in Paris seeming smaller. Just like the Transport building on Main Street in DLP is the size of Disneyland's castle. The two parks are hugely different scales.

Really? I didn't know that. I know that the Transport building resmebles the castle.

There are not the walk through attractions or sense of space like in DLP. Heck, adventureland, Frontierland, New Orleans Square and Critter Country would probably fit in the space of DLP's Frontierland and the bit up to the tree house of Adventureland, and yet in that space you have about 16 attractions.

In comparing the photos in the link there doesn't seem to be much of a difference between the size of the two ships. The DLP version does look slightly larger overall, but not tremendously so.

"Isn't DLP the biggest MK style park? Maybe SHDL will be bigger."

I always thought that TDL was the largest in area simply because of it's gigantic central plaza (the castle had to be pushed back farther in order for the top to be seen from inside World Bazaar's glass canopy). I could be wrong though. I suspect that Davewasbaloo is more knowledgeable about this than I am.

"Guest traffic must be terrible during the peak season at DL."

It is, although DL does have more attractions than any of the other parks, so I guess that helps a bit.

I couldn't find any numbers of DL Anaheim.

It doesn't look that bad, but I expected something better. Hopefully the refurbed galley returns soon.
