That reminds me of the urban legend I once heard about the family who visited the Magic Kingdom and spent the entire day in Tomorrowland not knowing that there was more to the park than that. Point is, some people are just plain stupid.

Actually, I think you ought to look at a picture of a Grizzly bear. Grizzly Peak is not horribly constructed, nor is the snout too long. You've probably seen too many cartoon bears is the problem.

No, but making it easier on guests increases the likelihood they will stay longer, spend more money and see more of what there is to offer.

I like being able to easily walk from my Disney hotel to DtD and both parks. I think this is one of the key attributes that has led to increased attendance, increased length of stay, increased hotel occupancy, etc. I was always a 1-day guest until they expanded - now I stay several days at a time and spend A LOT more money (happily).

While you may not like it, I think it's safe to say you're in the minority.

This post made me laugh because it reminded me of how my cousin didn't realize it was a bear. She asked "what's the deal with the big dog?"

As far as bears go, I think the caricature is well done. As far as mountains go, I think it sucks. Way too perfect and literal. For a park that was supposed to be more about realism than fantasy, it's stupid to have so real a looking bear up there when in nature there is nothing that looks that perfectly man-carved. Just another idiotic Bravermanism. God, that guy was just the worst possible choice to lead the creatives. Maybe a good choice to bring in the place on or under budget, but a real dolt in the theme and storytelling department.

Well, it’s obvious by the attendance numbers, and the amount of investment to ‘fix’ DCA that he is actually in the majority. Those who actually like the park appear to be in the minority.

Also on Katella was a secondary entrance for cars to enter the parking lot, next to the "hole", it was only used on busy days, but it was available.

Anyways, the Wall Street Journal is reporting that Cars Land is coming in the next few years, here is hoping it will help the park!

If so, I think the name is a bit too limiting in that all new attracts will have to be car related. Why not just call it Radiator Springs?

This way, it's just a small town in the desert and you have more options to play with when coming up with rides.

For example, NASA does a lot of rocket testings in the desert, so I can totally see some sort of E Ticket thrill ride based on this premise. Just a thought.

But there will be a section unrelated to the movie that will feature a reasturant themed to a drive-in theater that will let you eat inside cars while you watch car related short films.

It also gives them the option to expand the area later with say...a herbie ride or something else that is related to cars and car culture.

Looking at where I see DCA falling horribly short in several years (after all the placemaking stuff is done) is that they aren't being very aware of their space limitations. Sure, they still have the rest of the Timon Lot, possibly some room behind Screamin' and maybe a sliver of space by the GCH, but that's not all that much. DL is packed with attractions that are all well thought out and use the spaces very well. Even some of the newer attractions like Indy and Splash are shaped to relate to the ammount of room they had to work with.

It seems like the race track (at least the outdoor part) just takes up a ton of room without much concern for how it's being used. I don't know the exact dimensions, but going by the pictures I've seen, I would guess that it's an area about the same size as the 1959 northeast expansion to DL that had the Monorail, Matterhorn, Submarine Voyage, Motor Boat Cruise, and two Autopias. While it may be impractical to compare this to the building regulations of the late 50's, it's still clear that there is a lot of space that is just being thrown away because they aren't planning the track that well. (Speaking of which, it seems to look different in each picture of it I see, so maybe they haven't completely worked it out yet) While the land will have some minor attractions, I can't help but to think that they could easily be placed in the empty spots of the racers without too much detriment to either of them. Shops and restuarants could also be placed here to help use the area better.

While I will be the first to admit that I don't know the exact plans for the area, I still think they need to be careful. If DCA is as popular as this stuff makes it look like it will be, then they will need a lot of room for future expansion. And if it doesn't do as well, then they woudl probably need to add more stuff. Either way, there will be additions outside of the current park boundaries. The way they are building right now, they aren't thinking very far in the future, which is a problem in Anaheim more than any other Disney resort in the world.
