I finally saw Cars this weekend and I loved it. It's right up there with the best of the Pixar features as far as I'm concerned. I definitely preferred it to either Toy Story (which I think are overrated).

I'm with Dave in that I can't really see what's not to like. It looks great, has more heart than a greeting card store on Feb 14th and has some great engaging characters.

That said I agree with whoever it was way back when who said that Owen Wilson doesn't really have a great animation voice and as has been repeated here and everywhere else, it borrows so heavily from Doc Hollywood that they should have mentioned it as inspiration in the credits.

Also, loved the credits although I did know what the joke was going to be. And the Joe Ranft tribute was nice.

I thought Mater was great and although he burped and farted, that wasn't the point to his role as comedy sidekick which was nice. I am probably part of that 1% of the UK population who knows who Larry the Cable Guy is and I already knew he was funny from his standup. I was a little concerned by his "He did what in his cup!" line and wouldn't be upset if that was lost. I'm not a prude, but I may be talking over that line when we watch the DVD with the young'uns!

And just to say I'll admit, I blubbed like a little girl at the end, thank God Cinemas are dark!!!

And my brother's cinema chain actually wanted to drop it from their flagship West End cinema in favor of POTC which was still making more money than Cars much further into it's run, but they couldn't as they couldn't replace the enormous billboard outside. Apparently they shred them because they're too large to keep and POTC had already bit the dust!!!
