But in those cases, the ride technology isn't really part of the reason to ride the attraction, it's just how they get guests through the scenery. In RSR (and even more for TestTrack), a big portion of the ride's 'wow factor' signature experience is the ride technology. After Tower of Terror opened in DCA, it became clear that the Maliboomer was reaching the end of its life because it was so similar, but without the theming (similar to how I think TestTrack might be viewed). On the other hand, there are several roller coasters in DL and MK and nobody seems to mind that they share the same basic ride system (which is also the main reason to ride). I'm really not sure where I stand on this one.

I would also prefer something original, because copy and paste is just a bit lazy.

I'd greatly disagree that a big portion of RSR's wow factor comes from the ride system. I'd say it's the least of its draws.

No, I don't. That's what an AP is for. Why get one if you don't intend to use it?

Getting back to topic, my point was mearly to suggest that bringing something new to DHS might entice folks to visit parks on both coasts because of the potential variety of choices. I have not been on TSMM or Soarin' in WDW only because we have those here. And the only reason we ride Star Tours in FL is because of the queue being different.

However, I can totally understand east coasters wanting to have some of the same experiences as west coasters..just doesn't work for me personally. Different strokes, ya know?

Agreed. The whole setup of WDI is noxious. Without a shake up, I'd rather see the good stuff come to Orlando rather than nothing.

True. However, a flat bottom boat floating through a flume is so generic a ride-system that it doesn't seem to be as noticeable.

You could even argue that Maelstrom is the same technology.

And, sure, the OmniMover vehicle was the same in 'Haunted Mansion' and 'Adventure Thru InnerSpace' -- but, again, the vehicle was generic enough that it became invisible.

With Carsland and TestTrack, the vehicles are in fact, both cars.

In the case of 'Indiana Jones' and 'Dinosaur' -- the track layouts and vehicles are the same too. I noticed it immediately when I first rode 'Dinosaur'

    But I'm weird that way...

What? You don't think the boats in Small World and Pirates are integral part of the what makes those rides special? Seriously?

I would say though, it is time for the tram tour and Lights Motor to go away and build something new

Well, they're going to have to. DHS and EPCOT are hurting, and more and more Disney is losing the ability to slide by on its name recognition.

I agree EPCOT could also use a shot in the arm. Repurposing the Life building and a new country in World Showcase with a great attraction would be great. Of course there are rumors that eventually the Soarin movie might be replaced with the new movie that is going into Shanghai Disneyland
