They did that with Mission Space and although I think it is a great attraction, it clearly has never been the smash hit that Disney expected it to be. On the other hand Soarin', another DCA clone, continues to be the most popular attraction at Epcot.

DHS used to be my favorite park but that faded rapidly. For me the reason is too many shows and tours... they just lack the repeatability that other attractions have.

Disneyland Resort and WDW are two totally different experiences. The fact that 90% of the attractions at DL can be found in one of the 4 WDW parks doesn't make DL any less enjoyable.

And with Universal looking to bolster the Potter franchise presence in both their parks, should that not considered a form of competition that Disney should be concerned with?

It doesn't matter what technology is being used - the question is whether the attraction is a compelling one and one can guess right now that Universal will make the supposed new Potter offerings compelling.

The real question should be whether or not Disney feels that they want to keep the lead in attendance as the leading "studios" park in Orlando or fall behind in that category to Universal? If they do want to compete, then what are they going to do to enhance their offering which at this time features a number of outdated rides and shows. I doubt that a new Fantasmic show will bring them to Disney studios park over new Potter rides.

I still believe their pricing on tickets, merchandise and food is FAR BETTER than that of Disney. But when I thought about it, I remembered that while my wife loved looking around the park, there were only two attraction that she actually experienced. She does not do high-thrill rides (especially coasters and free-falls) and the weather was too chilly to do a "get you drenched" ride. Also, Jurassic Park had suffered a breakdown and was not operating that day. All she experienced were Spiderman and Poseidon's Fury.

She wanted to ride Harry Potter, but as those who met her at the DL LP meet know, she is a rather large woman (though at least 100 lbs less than many who go to WDW). She tried sitting in the sample ride vehicle outside the line to Forbidden Journey and they were unable to comfortably secure the restraint. She has NEVER been unable to ride a Disney ride because of her size, including attractions like Test Track and Dinosaur. It kind of surprised me that Universal would design a new attraction that would be unable to accommodate so many Orlando guests.

So I decided we would go back to WDW knowing that my wife would be able to enjoy more things. I think WDW will always be more "family oriented" and appeal to a large number of people that Universal, with or without Harry Potter, will never attract. I think Carsland would be an excellent addition to DHS. I agree... a revamped Fantasmic! just wouldn't do it!

If the theme parks or resorts are boring you, then maybe it is time to take a time out.
As I have said many times before, I try not to go to Disney or other theme parks more than twice a year. I'm closer to DLR now, but frankly have only been once since Cars Land opened.
I spend my free time, which at my age is more considerable than others, getting out to other things like our state and national parks.
Sometimes I take walks with friends in the local mountains.
In other words, doing something more than just living at Disney theme parks-and constantly complaining about them.

Yeah we are all just a bunch of whiners. Just because TDO has chosen not to add a major attraction to the MK in my daughters lifetime, she doesn't feel much need to drive herself down there. And I am sure that these kinds of attractions are cost prohibitive to build. The DisCo. is only a $40 Billion Multinational Corporation.

Should I mention that Universal Resort Orlando has 3 full blown E-Tickets under constructions at the moment? One additional E-Ticket just was greenlit last week. And there is one placemaking project going on around The Simpson's. Not to mention an 1800 room family suite/ value resort.
