I just don't find Pixar trailers very thrilling to be honest. The only exception was the Monsters Inc. one where they go through the wrong door!!!

Conversely, I just assumed I'd like Nemo without even watching the trailers, but I didn't. It happens that way sometimes.

Cetainly, if you like every Pixar movie, you should see Cars. IMO. I plan to see it, even though I think the trailers make it look awful. Of course, I have free movie passes, too.

Third, I have no knowledge of Larry the Cable Guy, so that voice of the tow truck sounds like the late Jim Varney -- not that there's anything wrong with that. It's just like using Gilbert Gottfried as a voice actor. Yeah, we've heard that before.

Second, I am saying that the bazillion NASCAR fans out there, adults and kids, will go to see this movie, thereby bringing dads along who would otherwise skip the Disney animated feature for some PG-13 action flick.

Third, I have no clue who Jim Varney is, and I can't seem to find Merced on a map. No offense ofcourse.

Merced is a little town in a little state called California.

Population 70,000 and home to the newest University of California school, UCMerced.

We have all the comforts of many towns, including two Starbucks, Dominos pizza, Sears, and even some grocery stores.

Thanks for the info on Earnest. And Jim, as long as your city has a Starbucks, then it's okay by me... not that it needs MY approval. still.

yeah Im having trouble warming up to that concept too...I had a similar problem with Robots, a world populated completely by robots, um for some reason that angle kinda rubs away the specialness of the creatures your supposed to be watching on the screen a bit.

I had the same feeling with Monsters Inc too, all the monsters living in a monster world, but then when Boo comes in it kinda helps shift the humanless aspect of the film & made it a tad more easier for me...

What people might want to know is that John Lasseter's Dad is a big car nut and worked at an autoparts store and when John was a kid, they took a family trip along Route 66.

The main car is a race car, but he ends up being left behind and the movie is about the journey to get back "home" and the stuff you miss when you have been living your life in the fast lane.

Back on topic - I love this Doc Hollywood approach cars is taking. I am really looking forward to it.

From what I've heard, the film actually follows the "Doc Hollywood" format very closely. I have a feeling that this will help its appeal extend beyond the NASCAR crowd pretty well.

In all the discussion of the voice performers in this thread, I don't think anyone has mentioned that Paul Newman plays a major role. That should also be a pretty good selling point for them.

I've heard that Larry the Cable Guy's character pretty much steals the film, though...
