Ferrets, indeed!! Can't ducklings tell the difference between ferrets and squireels any more? What would Ferret Afros say?

ORGOCH: I think he already said it!!!

Actually, that movie is deadly dull to me. I fast forward through most of it. Nice backgrounds, though.

Yeah, the tails are too bushy to be chipmunks, that seems right.

You know, the castle was modeled after a real castle in Bavaria. It's called Neuschwanstein. Built by mad ludwing.

A couple of articles with pictures of it:

This is what is different between then and now. They built a castle and it was based on a real actual castle. Someone didn't think that was good enough, so they dumped cartoon characters on it and painted it pink.

    Oh well.

ORDDU: I think SLEEPING BEAUTY is anything BUT deadly dull, myself, but that's just a difference in taste. It's nice to see that this wonderful movie is finally getting the attention it richly deserves. It was released way ahead of it's time. Tony Baxter once mentioned that it was always his favorite Disney movie. He had said this at an NFFC convention many years ago.

That would be Walt Disney. He named it "Sleeping Beauty Castle," and had it remodeled to accommodate a walk through based on that deadly dull film.

No, it wouldn't. It was done about 30 years after he died.

What he built was based on an actual castle in Europe. It was colored as if it were made out of stone. I think if he wanted a pink castle with cartoon squirrels on it, he would have built it that way, or changed it in the ten or so years he was running the place.

I don't agree with all the changes that were made in the late 90s. But there was certainly a precedent for them set by Walt himself.

Yes, because it was in fantasyland. But he also did not alter the look of the exterior, which was based on a real castle, which is what I am talking about. There used to be a sense of realism to a lot of what was done, a stepping off point of reality into the fantasy. There are actually buildings that look like what the castle used to look like. Now it looks pink.
