A bit pricey, but they stock lots of fresh tasty treats, and it's always been one of my favorite stops in my DL day. I've even been known to cart my pastries over to the old motorboat lagoon dock, and feed crumbs to the ducks. They love it!

For another thing, the Plaza Pavilion has been underutilized for decades now. I seem to remember hearing rumors that a full-scale kitchen was been added during a recent rehab - a kitchen that could even do double-duty between Plaza Pavilion and maybe something new in the old Tahitian Terrace area. At the same time, Cafe Orleans and the French Market were supposed to be getting a rehabed kitchen down on the service level below. Does anybody know if any or all of this ever happened?

I'm sure the baked goods are coming from the same bakery they always did, but an expanded bakery is a better bakery - that's what I always say.

As to the Carnation restaurant, I've never eaten there, and don't particularly desire to. It looks cramped and frantic the way it's wedged into that tiny little space. I suppose the expanded indoor seating will help with that - some. It will probably just mean more cramped and frantic space, with some of it now indoors.

Finally, being a lifelong day-tripper and never having an AP, I'm glad to see them move that out of the parks. It always seemed odd to me to have these big crowds of people all clustered together for financial transactions, whether it was at the Bank on Main Street or in the Plaza Pavilion.

What are all those people doing anyway, and gee I'm glad I don't have to do it.

That's interesting. When I was very young, my family and I were having breakfast at the old Hills Brother's Coffee House and a bunch of imagineers took over the back room and had a bunch of blueprints out on the tables.

I really enjoyed the Mickey coffee they were selling a few years back. I thought I'd try to figure out what brand it was - and in tiny print it revealed itself to be a Nestle (Carnation?)product. Guess what? Can't find a Nestle coffee in the stores.

Do they still have the Mary Poppins Afternoon Tea in the Paradise Pier Hotel?
I always thought that was the strangest place for Mary Poppins.

Pavillion and Poppins? I could think of worse things.

It's just another example of placing characters where they only semi-fit, for the excuse of more characters. I'm all for the added capacity, but they could move the bakery to the Plaza Pavilion just fine without having to add the MaPo theme.

Mary Poppins takes place in Edwardian England. "King Edward's on the throne, it's the Age of Men," as Mr. Banks sings.

I agree she's out of place on Main Street.

I think her Britishness makes her more out of place on Main Street "USA" than the timing/style. But there are bigger stretches in the Disney universe.

A bakery themed to Mary Poppins fits just as easily into Main Street. The Edwardian period of the film (not the books, which were set in the 1930s) fits neatly into the time period of Main Street. And the "fashion lag" makes the slight (but definite) differences with Victorian no big deal.

Anyone wanting to see the best example of Edwardian design in film need look no further than My Fair Lady. Henry Higgins' home is high Edwardian style.

Maybe she's decided to set up shop in Marceline, Missouri?

    OK, that's a stretch.

Simply put, I wouldn't have her in the Park at all.
