Btw, Tall, I finally remembered to ask that teacher about hers, she already gave them away :(.

I'm still searching for the book that I learned to read from. My grandma was a teacher and she gave me one of her textbooks. I, of course, don't remember the title but it was purple and had kids in it named Bill, Ricky, and Linda. I still remember the text from the first story. I bought another book that had the same characters but it wasn't MY book. :(

I'm really enjoying reading about everyone's finds and searches.

Fortunately the treasures I mentioned were only treasures to me and I didn't have to pay an arm and a leg for them. My sister is seeking the book "Cabbage Moon" -- a quick search on ebay shows the storu she wants selling for nearly $70.

BTW, really love the item purchased that was found to have the same knick. I keep waiting to purchase a little golden book and find my own name inside. My parents always wrote my name and the year.

    Rebekah.

Very simple but it taught me to read at a very early age. I'd love to be able to show it to my students sometime! :)

It's enough for me to look at old pictures, like from Christmases past, and see things I had as a kid. At this point in my life, I find myself going to the past in my mind and remembering some of the simple childhood pleasures.

Some of the favorites I can remember:

    - A Disney-themed ViewMaster "Theatre-in-the-Round" set. It was an electric-powered ViewMaster projector, and a tin of reels from various Disney movies. I remember being a little scared of the scene from "The Jungle Book" where Kaa is about to swallow Mowgli. I loved ViewMasters in general and had all sorts of reel sets. Two others that stand out are the ones from "Live and Let Die" and "The Poseidon Adventure."

    - I had a Walt Disney World board game that had a replica of the Haunted Mansion on the board. If I remember right, you dropped the die through the roof and it came out the front. There were also cardboard monorails used in the game.

    - The Which Witch? board game from Milton Bradley. That was a lot of fun. So was Mouse Trap.

    - I had almost everything in the Six Million Dollar Man collection and got a lot of hours of fun out of that. Particularly memorable are the crystal radio backpack and some sort of operational base that included an inflatable dome.

    - I used to carry around a Raggedy Andy that my mother made. My grandmother thought I was too old to be carrying it around, so I was bribed to give it up. My mom passed away last year, and one of the last things she made before she died was another Raggedy Andy. This, I still have.

They were hollow, so they didn't hold up too well. I used to have the full set. I love this dinosaur!"

We used to get those at the San Antonio Zoo when I was little - and, actually, I think I saw one of the machines still tyhere and working a couple years ago when DH & I went down to the zoo for my birthday. :)

I brought back 2 things from my mom's to sell on eBay: old ViewMaster from the 60s (several reels but no Disney, IIRC) and old Lionel transformer. Some day I'll get around to it!

I had bought the Western Barbie, the one that winks her eye, on eBay. Also her horse Dallas. I have looked for the "disco Barbie" as well. Are you talking about the one that had gold wirey stuff that made it easy to curl?

Recently I bought a book that was a favorite of mine when I was young. It's a Disney book called "The Haunted House" with Mickey, Donald & Goofy.

I almost bought Strawberry Shortcake dolls once, the originals, not the new ones that are out now.

Color me jealous! That's the exact Western Barbie I'd like to get - not any of the ones I found on eBay the other day after posting about wanting Barbies here. *sigh* Lucky you, Tammy!

YES! That's her! I would totally love it if I could find her again!

Most recently I got to replace my ORIGINAL Lite Brite! DH found one at Goodwill with all of the pegs and everything, just no box, for $2.50!!
I've also been trying to round up the original Care Bears too and have had ok luck. I have 4 or 5 of them - I haven't found any in awhile though.
