Am I wrong? IRA seeks political reallignemt through violence if necessary and its memebrship is almost all Catholic. But the organization's point is not to spread its version of Christianity. IRA memebers are still hung over from potato famine and English rule(which happened to be more protestant than not). Now, am I wrong?

Of course it is possible for someone living abroad tohave knowledge, perspective and opinions. However, the main root of the troubles is the repression of the Catholics by the Protestant English, but it actually lasts about 400 years, going back much further than the famine. The IRA did of course spring from that and the famine was a focal point, but it was Bloody Sunday in the 70's where it took it's toll. When working in Belfast, we were briefed frequently on no go areas if you were protestant or catholic. It really did boil down to that. Sure, there is now the politics, the organised crime, the drugs and everything else, plus charitable contributions from the US (though this has been clamped down on). But having lived on alert of terrorism here in Europe, it has been interesting to see the American perspective. My Terrorism classes at college were always facinating. Heck, there was even a part where there was a discussion on whether the Boston Tea party was a form of terrorism.

The Founding Fathers were ruthless terrorists, a fact that nobody can deny.
