You better believe most of them did not pay over 300 bucks to spend the night at the convention center. I would think that at the least Disney would comp their night's stay, especially since they didn't stay there all night! Geez.

When we first arrived the damage did not look so bad in the great hall thank-goodness but as the day progressed I think the damage was assessed as worse then first thought as all carpet has been removed and the floor ripped up! Water appeared to be pumping out across the floor and I have taken pix but I'm in the concierge lounge so will have to post them tomorrow when back on my laptop!

Blue tarps were boxed around the main portion of the lobby and my first thought was "They picked a fine time to refurb the area!" After bumping into a CM friend at Acorns she explained what happened. Wow! I'm glad there were no serious injuries. I'm also surprised there wasn't a lingering smoke odor. The piano had been moved to a corner near the conference rooms and walk around characters filled the side hall. As mom and I were headed back toward Downtown Disney we were greeted with big hugs from Baloo and Goofy. Disney did a great job at keeping everyone smiling through the ordeal from what I could see.

By that night the hardwood in my kitchen looked like a free-form sculpture.

Details on this story may end up written like a public safety announcement. Now will there be more warning labels on holiday lights?
