I definitely try to be positive, and avoid conflict and taking sides if I can, and talk Disney, and be a presence. It's unfortunate that I can't post more, but I still appreciate laughing place in my life and the other people that come here, whether to share a Disney story, or even to seek support.

I guess it doesn't mean much to someone whose only concern is what Disney executive is going to assume the role of some outgoing Disney executive. I guess you have to pay attention to the important stuff.

Whatever. I'm just glad LP was what is was then rather than what it is now.

It does make it harder, especially since with the time difference most American posters are asleep by the time I'm getting online! It does make me a bit sad that when I do get on here it's very easy to catch up, vs the good old days when if you went offline for a couple of hours you'd have heaps of reading to do.

I do think there is less of a sense of lightheartedness than there used to be, but if anything, I feel "included" in the community now more than I used to. I used to feel a lot more like the odd one out here on the other side of the world, even when I'd been a member for years (I've been on for 11 years now!) but getting to know people on email, Facebook and in person has helped a lot with that.

    >>Some of my closest friends were made through LP. I will admit I do chat a LOT with LP friends outside of LP on Facebook, but without LP, I wouldn't have those friends in the first place.

I thought I was ready to give up on LP, but in reality, I'm not.<<

This says it all for me. I just can't give LP up!!

I am much more confrontational then I used to be because, frankly, I am tired of some of the I know everything, you know nothing posters that have been left behind to fill in the humor gaps with gloom and doom. Some folks find them enlightening and amusing...I find them obnoxious and boring. I try and look the other way or just don't read them, but, being human I sometimes get caught up in the vortex and might be less then kind to someone that really wasn't that offensive, but I had just been reading something that was, and it kind of carried over.

For example, this from and earlier post on this thread...>>>I stated it smells like pee to me in Muppetvision 3-d. Someone told me I was wrong. How can my perception of my experience be wrong?,<<<

That was me...it wasn't my intent to say that you were wrong but the manner in which it was presented was a definite statement. (i.e. "It smelled like pee") It was stated as if were fact that this is what it was. At that point in time I was so frustrated by the groups fixation to find everything wrong with Disney that they possibly could without even trying to find a reasonable explanation for what was perceived that I felt the need to say something. And what did I say? I don't remember word for word but I suggested that this is an ongoing observation, but not just at 3D. The Monorails have been accused of the same thing. I suggested that the smell might be something other than "pee" and since it was found in other places it might be cleaning compounds that are used. Doing that I might have been implying that you were wrong, not about what you perceived, but about what you actually were smelling.

Taking the negativity a step further, I may be the only one that feels this way, but, I feel an obligation to the new people that have come on line to do the "research" that everyone insists is needed for a trip to a theme park and we are tainting their vision of what they will see when they arrive.

I can't speak for anyone else but to me (I'll use WDW here) a visit to WDW is an escape from the world that seems to be circling the drain at the moment. I am old enough to not expect perfection in everything, for one thing I think I have been around enough to be able to honestly know that it isn't possible. I could focus on paint missing or an occasional non-functioning AA, but I will not. That seems to be an obsession these days. If I cannot allow others to be less then perfect, then I must be perfect as well...and I cannot take the pressure.

The point was that we all look at things different. That's a good thing, but when it gets to the point that we are exploring a persons mental soundness based on whether or not they are willing to suspend disbelief long enough to enjoy the kid in themselves, then I completely loss my cherub like demeanor.

I'll go ahead here and apologize to anyone that I might have offended, but in almost all the cases that was not my intent. You must remember that I am getting a little long in the tooth and having been a Father now for 38 years, it is tough to not try and guide the young'uns in the crowd. :)

I can relate to this too. One thing I'd say to this Beth is for every post that would have something negative in it, there is probably at least one person who would enjoy reading about your planning and upcoming trip. I know after reading your WDW trip report after your last trip, I've been wondering when I'd get the chance to read another one! I mean, I am your Facebook stalker and all ;)
Seriously though, I really enjoyed your trip report, I haven't been to WDW in 15 years or more, and I really was able to learn from your report as well as enjoy all of you and Steevin's crazy antics :)

I've only been posting for a year and a half, so I have no idea what it use to be like on LP. Although, when I first started, I have to admit I was a bit surprised at how LP actually was and how I thought a Disney message board would be.

It was much more negative than I pictured. Way more. I mean, I'm certainly not all roses and sunshine, but when I go to Disneyland, me and my family have an awesome time and we very much look forward to going back. Call me crazy.
That's what I wish would be the general opinion, but I find myself steering clear of many topics because it just makes me unhappy reading post after post of one negative comment after another.

There are many awesome people I've met on LP, and I do have fun here, so I come back. I just learn where to post and where not to post so often.

I can't think of the last time I looked at anything other than the boards here. And considering the hard work Doobie, Rebekah and the other contributors put into the site, that's something I need to rectify.

    Bring it BABY!!!

In all honesty, these threads help others out there who are planning their own trips, but don't feel comfortable jumping in and asking questions themselves.

I still enjoy the boards and the people I have gotten to talk to email with. I miss the fun nature of WDW General. Yes, I can say that those posters have influenced me in to being more nit-picky, but I am trying to not be rude by it.

I would like to say though that I want to thank each and every poster on these boards. If it wasn't for you all, Disney wouldn't be as big in my life as it is now. I would also like to apologize for anything over the years that I have said that came off as rude, conceded, or annoying. I deeply regret it and as a teen I have learned from my experiences and posts on these boards.

I do hate one major thing about posters though...No one is able to do WDW Meets! I want to have the experiences with LPers that people in SoCal have! Hoping to see some of you when I am in Anaheim August 11th through the 15th!

    Those threads drive me nuts!

It really is a head scratcher to see some people always have negative comments about Disney parks yet they are on LP?? I have no interest in bashing Disney parks when i love Disney.

Basically i have found the threads to be mostly WDW bashing and like RT said about Disney executives. I have lost a lot of interest in LP and that is why i post much less.

I just wanted to point out that when i had questions about planning a WDW trip there were some really helpful posters. Autopia Deb was helpful and gave great advice :)
