You are 100% correct that those topics belong in Disney Business.

I disagree, however, that all "negative" threads should be sidelined to their own section. It is appropriate, I think, to have threads about park maintenance issues within WDW General or Disneyland General because those are things that the average vacationer would come into contact with.

But if the discussion is about business strategy, longterm vision, how specific Disney departments are being run, I totally agree that should be posted in (or moved over to) Disney Business.

Remember the phrase "Defender of Mediocrity"?

I just read in the DLP section that they are replacing a rarely used theater space in Fantasyland with a permanent meet and greet location for MIckey. It's expected to be highly themed and based on the meet 'n' greet at DL. I think its a great idea. It's using an often underused area (I've been visiting DLP since '92 and never seen a show there) and adding something the park needs in an appropriate area. Yet, because this is a meet and greet and not some grand new attraction (not based on Toons) I really questioned whether or not to say that I liked the idea. I often get the feeling from these boards that if I were a proper Disney fan the idea of a new meet and greet would have my head spinning.

Remember the discussion about the term "fanbois". I said at the time that it was being used as a way to put people down and I still stand by that, but it's not the only way it's done here.

I'm saddened that people are reluctant to post for trip advice, that's why I came here in the first place and everyone was so helpful!!!

I agree with your statement with this particular requirement attached. It must not be the 'a friend of mine told me' or an unrealistic expectation. The ones that I have objected to were the OMG, the sky is falling, type posts. A mechanical piece, without warning, stops operating and Disney maintenance sucks. There is no allowance given for the fact that mechanical things break and that a lot of the stuff in either DLR or WDW has passed or is getting close to a half a century old. Just because you happen to spot something broken or a light bulb out doesn't mean it wasn't operating just minutes before you arrived. Timing is everything. So instead of giving the benefit of the doubt or allowing that it takes time to get a crew, already assigned to other things, out there instantly translates into the massive decline of the parks. It is sending a message to the group of guests that have yet to experience the surface joy that they should now be concentrating and looking for every little less than magical detail that can be found. I think that we do a disservice to a lot of CM's that truly take a lot of pride in what they do and fault them because they cannot be everywhere at the same time.

It's totally unnecessary. Instead of focusing on the one thing that isn't working how about giving a shout out to the thousands that are?

Interject reality in the discussions and things will look a lot better.

I seem to recall someone using the term "rubes" once here on LP a few years ago in a derogatory way and I must say I resemble this remark! If fact, it was here on LP that I met a wonderful group of "rubes" and am a proud card-carrying member!

    And I also am a sweatshirt-wearing mom.

I don't have a problem with people voicing their objections to things, that's what' makes this Disney board instresting. And I firmly believe that althought something may not necessarily be good for WDW, but that doesn't mean it's not going to be a huge hit at DLP! I also have to draw the line with telling people not to go to WDW. I would never suggest to anyone NOT to experience something at WDW and to tell them to save their money, do something else or vacation elsewhere or not to buy a DVC. That is just so pety and should have no place on this board. Please allow each of us to draw our own conclusions. We are all adults here and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity.

Getting back to what might not work at one park and what might work elsewhere. I think there are plenty of meet and greets in the MK. Never been to DLP, but you know what they could probably use a meet and greet. In my personal opinion I think DHS could use more meet and greets. It's just that there are so many characters in the MK you practically have to dodge them to get to the back of the park. Althought I often have a great time hanging with them, I can think of one ocassion of hanging with the Cinderella's evil step sisters. They were so funny!!!! They were getting the crowd to yell "Oh Prince Charming".
