Although it would CERTAINLY not be my choice, I would sure rather see a family like the Duggars than some never-married 20-year-old crack addicted woman with 2 or 3 kids living on welfare!

This may have begun in relative innocence, but it has evolved into a reality television circus sideshow.

How about the fact that the eldest children are the ones who have to raise these children? More selfishness. How about the fact that the girls are not allowed to go to college...even a creepy Quiverfull believing college. They're not allowed to be as educated as the sons; not allowed to have OR follow their dreams. They're taught that their purpose in life is to procreate. Selfish, sexist and scary. Let's not even go into the creepy "christian army" crap. There's also a rumor that since he is a former legislator, the government does indeed pay for his entire families healthcare but I don't know if that's true. If it is, hundreds of thousands of dollars were spent on that last baby alone, changing the argument that they aren't taking from anyone. But, ultimately, the fact that they don't allow their daughters to be as educated as their sons is enough for me.

I think the daughters have likely decided there is a WHOLE lot more money right now in being a good little Duggar daughter than they could ever hope to make at a job following college... especially in this economy. I'm sure they know fame is fleeting and that they should milk it while they can. There is always time for college after the cow dries up.

Yes, it's true that they CAN do what they want once they're adults. Who has said they cannot? Doesn't mean that the way they live isn't abusive, imo. Clearly, I am very much NOT alone in feeling this way. If they want to be on tv and have such strong views, I don't think it's out of line for people to discuss them.
