I thought that too, but I have to say, I really enjoy the food.

Saw this Hans, in case that'll help you make a decision.

She sure did. It's the first "attraction" I plan to hit as soon as I'm done with check in.

Thanks, I just sent my email request. I'm very excited about this.

My DH (a well-traveled European, if anyone thinks that matters) says he doubts there is another restaurant as good within miles. He says the atmosphere/elegance/service, great meal and park hopper for the price, the dessert table, and alcohol in the park are definitely worth it. We didn't have annual passes that negated the need for park admission. And sadly, we have not been to Napa Rose, so I can't compare.

No idea how the club member I am so tenuously connected to feels about the change. I doubt most Club 33 members want to change their current arrangement. I wouldn't be surprised if 1901 doesn't last.

Most of the membership of Club 33 at this point is either really old memberships grandfathered in for quite some time (like the one my friend is under), or corporate. No, a lot of the folks aren't happy with the changes. Will a bunch of them drop? Not likely. Those that have been around for a loooong time will likely get some sort of grandfathering. At least that's the rumor.
Since corporate memberships could give out admission at their discretion, lots of people got to go under them. Private ones, less so. Thus the number of people who have visited.
As for 1901 lasting, I think it will. It means another quiet spot with good food and service in the other park, where folks can be assured of having a more intimate, less noisy experience in the park. It'll have it's own devotees after a bit. It'll give some overflow, too.

    Ok, off my soapbox! 8)

Yes, it gets VERY expensive. Then again, you're getting to experience something that is still pretty exclusive.

    That is incorrect.

I went to Club 33 as a guest in 2005. One-day park-hopper passes were waiting for everyone in my party for FREE at the Guest Relations window in the esplanade. They were included as part of the meal.

The meal was a fixed price: it cost the same as a one-day ticket to the park (so you paid for the meal and got into the park free or paid for the park and got the meal free, whichever way you chose to look at it).

If in fact they are now requiring Club 33 guests to pay their way into the park AND then ALSO pay for the meal, then this is a change in policy since 2005.

The special events dining hall at Anaheim (formerly Disney) Ice is, so far as I'm aware, still called "Club 32," a play on both Club 33 and the freezing point of water.

I've seen pictures of the inside of Club 33, and read accounts of dining there; that's enough to satisfy my curiosity until and unless somebody offers me a guest pass. Quite honestly, as private clubs go, I'm more interested in the Magic Castle.

And "CuriousConstance," you may be a picky eater, but I am The Ur-Picky Eater, the one by whom pickiness is defined.

Also, members had X number of park passes to use, and then they were out, but dunno how that's working at this point. As I said, the last I'd heard about all this was well over a year ago, when they'd just announced all the changes, reopened the waiting list, etc.

Everybody got a 1-day parkhopper as part of the meal (even though several of us were APers), and I think the total for the meal was around $100, though I don't remember the exact price. It was slightly more than the cost of a ticket, but it was a really good price if you considered what it all included (though obviously the actual membership was an additional cost).

A glass of champagne was included with the meal, but additional alcoholic drinks cost extra; from what I recall, mixed drinks were around $8 each, which seemed like a very fair price considering the location. Given that I knew I'd probably never be back, I made sure to have a couple drinks! Let's just say that the mint juleps from Club 33 are infinitely better than the ones they serve downstairs to the regular guests! : )

Overall, it was an awesome experience, and I'm really glad and grateful that I got to do it with a really fun group of friends. That said, I don't really feel like I need to go do it again any time soon.

When we went for the lunch buffet back around 2007, the cost was $83. The price now is $87.
