It was decided that the universe was telling me this was not the time to chase my dream. Sorry I havent been in touch earlier but as you can imagine my life right now is very hectic, and I spend a great deal of time fighting off depression. For Xmas my partner just gave me a trip to the resor in February with a suite at the DL Hotel, bless his soul he is trying. Again thank you all for the help and well wishes over the last serveral months, you will never know what that meant to me.

Perhaps the Universe has bigger and better plans for you in the future - that's the way I always look at it. I spent a year trying to land an editing job with the National Captioning Institute, and when I finally did, I wound up working there for ONE day. It was a nightmare. My mother told me that the universe has something else planned for me, and not to get depressed about it. And I'll be darned, three months later, without much effort, I landed my current kick-butt job here at CBS Television Network.....so I promise you, PastKnight, everything will work itself out. There are bigger things planned for you! =)

After reading this thread, I can see that the CM's posting here really love what they do, and see it as more than just a job. I would like to thank you all for making Disneyland such a magical place for the rest of us. PastKnight: I followed your story right up til the end; I'm so sorry things didn't work out for you, but I'm sure that one day you'll be at Disneyland, living out your dreams. Good luck!

A month ago I was suggesting to my SIL to apply at the resort because I knew they were in hire mode and she needed a new job so even though she didn't apply I was sorta interested in how things coulda and might be in the future for her. I read through approximately 200 posts and came upon your news that you declined the current Disney job that was on the table. That's quite understandable, I'm sure all of us are at some time confronted with something like that. When I was 35 my company was changing how it was going to do business, it was closing offices and granting sales managers distributorships for their line. It was quite an opportunity for me to leave and start my own business, but also some big risks involved. I had made up my mind that risks are necessary if I was gunna succeed and I wanted my own business. My boss, another SM and myself had a business plan, location, loan applications started, and more going on for our new business together. Then a job offer was presented to me that I simply couldn't ignore, it was guaranteed increased income, benefits, a step up, and situations in my personal life were very conducive to the job offer. I took the job. Have I ever looked back and regretted my decision? Yeah maybe, however I still do business with the group of once to be partners and I see that it wouldn't have been what I always wanted anyway. As I see it PastKnight, someday you may still follow that dream some date in your future, I passed on an opportunity that probably wont ever come as easily ever again, but Disney will most likely be hiring again when it is the right time for you. As for your diagnosis, I dont know a whole lot about Lupus except that a past co-workers wife had Lupus and she explained to me that there are varying degrees of it and it is different for some people. I sincerely wish you the best with that. You are a good parent, your child needs your help now, you did what you know is right for your kid. And then there is the financial aspect... I know that some say "money isn't everything" and "money isn't the most important thing in life" I may be missing something, but I always figure that these sayings were generated either by someone who still lives at home with their parents, or is already financially secure with no worries about how to pay their monthly bills. If your company offered you twice, sheesh that is double good, more money plus it means they value you and want you. I know many who worry day to day what their company might do to them next week. Wishing you the best, keep in touch, have a BLAST in Feb.
