By the way, with everything that has happened with the attraction, I'm glad to hear that "Big Thunder Mountain Railroad... is an extremely selective attraction" for skilled CM's.

Does anybody know any information about the Retail Division (if its called that)with regards to anything mentioned in this Thread so far; i.e. availability, new hire versus seasoned/skilled, advancement opportunities, cross training, ease of getting hours/shifts? From what I've read over the years, retail is one of the first areas that is cut back in hours...

In fact, because the summer was so insane, I've already made more RIGHT NOW than I did all of last year, with 4 months left to go.

What role do you play at the Resort?

What do you wish you knew before you started @ DLR? Are you PT or FT, and how long did it take you to get to FT, if you are FT?

and finally.... what is the most important thing for a new CM to remember in order to last 5 years?

Again, CONGRADULATIONS on 5 years!! (and counting?))

    They get.....

another pin :D (DonaldDuck). And a good little raise.

As far as non "new hire" attractions, a few I know are Matterhorn, Space, Thunder, Monorail, and I think DLRR. I also believe Main St. vehicles are generally experienced CMs.

With new attractions, they want a core of experienced leads and CMs operating it before they let new hire in to mess everything up. =) Auto was the same way when it first opened. BUt once they got an experienced crew and the opening bugs ironed out, new hires galore.

DLRR was a guess based on the CMs I knew there who were mostly high seniority.

You also get your 5 year pin .. and I'm not sure about the raise. I had heard that the 4th year is the last time you get a raise ON your hire date, but I'm not sure. It probably depends on what department you're in.

Generally, you start pretty low, in terms of wages, but you get a raise on your hire date and then you get a cost of living raise every year as well. So it goes up fairly fast. But like I said before, at some point your yearly raises top out and you only get the cost of living ones... unless there's a new contract and the starting wage is increased. Then I think you get that amount of raise added to yours as well.

I am still PT. Been trying to get FT for quite awhile, but it doesn't really matter all that much to me. I *rarely* have less than 40 hours anyway. It's literally been probably over a year since I've had a shorter shift. And with the craziness this summer, I was working as many as 56 hours a week or more for a few weeks.

So 40 is just fine right now.

I've been investing for probably about 3 1/2 years, and I have bought about 550 shares (I currently own about 425).
