When the ship crashes. Steam (water) sprays in your face.

Throw in the rat effect as part of the crash.

Next thing - I've sat through a few showings of HISTA in my time, and I never remember the floor movement being particularly noticeable. Since everyone is moving in unison around you, and watching a 3D movie can be a bit disorienting in the first place, it seemed like a minor effect. Maybe it was done smoothly, without jarring jolts, which made it less noticeable.

For me - moving floor = no big deal.

Tell me a musical that does not have some form of cheesiness to it. ;)

Even the gritty/realistic West Side Story: "Officer Krupke" ?

Let me use a comparison. Does anyone remember the Country Bear Jamboree?
Do you remember the difference between the original show vs the seasonal shows?
The seasonal shows had much more movement and effects than the original ever had. Also had new effects like the triplettes moving individually instead of in unison.

So what I am saying is, they can punch up the EO effects by using bigger and more jarring movements. More lights, more, more water, more everything. They can show off the effects - and EO is the perfect movie to do so.

I'm pretty sure they were laser hits.

    Ok, so
    1. Laser hits
    2. Drop sequence
    3. Blasts of air
    at the same time.
    That'll be cool.

2)Add rat sounds, on a separate theater audio track, that plays when the crew crawls out of debris around crashed space ship and use the blasts of air to simulate rats running around your feet inside the debris (ala HISTA).

    3) Use water mist/blast when Hooter blows his trunk at the screen.

    4) Synch floor movement to music base during the 1st musical number (similar to vehicle movement on simulator ride at Experience Music Project). Or, just drop the floor to match the footsteps of the steel warriors that come after MJ.

    5) Steam and Lasers emit when spaceship leaves planet and EO logo reappears (same as EO 1.0). Audience claps and leaves. And, we're done.

EO Blooper Question - On Youtube, I noticed that there is a group dancer that really misses a dance step during the first musical number, "We are Here to Change the World". Everyone else, including MJ, bows down in a robotic move, while this one dancer mistakenly did a huge MJ spin then tried to quickly bow down with the rest of the group. It's really obvious on youtube, but I don't remember noticing that mistake when seeing the movie at Disney. Was the blooper left in the final film shown at Disney parks and I just didn't notice before? Or, was that group dance misstep edited out? Just curios.

While the motion-base floor was an obvious possible element for EO, I never gave the water effects, and blast of air a thought before.

Perhaps that's why everyone is "sworn" to secrecy, they want to throw in some surprises .. and we all love surprises don't we?

Perhaps not .. but I'll bite that that's what it could be.

btw - Good point to have the floor rumble - When Hooter finally gets his organ hooked up .. and blast the first organ sound off the keyboard.

If I remember correctly from my few trips into HISTA the floor didn't just move in pistons .. it was capable of vibrating.

I doubt they could have it vibrate in every base note in the music "beat" .. but maybe in selected points when EO transforms the troops and whip warriors (?).

There are obvious points in the 17 minute film where the motion-base floor would work nicely in conjunction.

This all really makes EO - "Captain EO 2.0". Unlike it has been before!

That would be a good selling point, not just for DL .. but also as a means to influence WDW, TDR, and DLP management teams to replace their HISTA shows for this.

For a year or year and a half run .. seems worth it.

I think that's basically all anyone wants to know anyway.<<

For some reason, I find this remark to be really funny. And I agree, wholeheartedly.

I guess it had been longer than I thought since I watched HISTA...I don't even remember the floor moving. I guess it wasn't that spectacular of an effect for me.

This is not meant to belittle those that are excited about its return. I'm very happy for you. But, please don't save a seat for me. :)

Maybe because the effect was so good, you didn't know the floor was moving. You thought that they really did shrink the theatre and was carrying it around.
