What would be funny is if that is actually a naive, innocent, happy CM saying it from their heart.

    CM: "Huh?"

    LOL

And there is a good chance that the Cm just might be one of those "old fashioned" Disney CMs who believe they're supposed to say something like this and genuinely mean it.

But no, it's better to suspect them of insulting us because we saw it on a website. The early bird catches the worm, you know.

There was a thread a while back on things you say when you're mad and trying not to show it. My favorite was "Well, bless your heart," which I gather is fairly common in parts of the South.

And as for my experience, when I worked at Vista-United at WDW in the call center the operators were ordered to end every call with "have a nice day".

Which would have been fine, except they HAD to say those exact words or risk getting in trouble. "Have a Disney day", or "have a magical day" or anything else was no good.

So, they were rather resentful that they were forced to say that particular line, instead of just being naturally friendly and polite (what's wrong with "you take care too now, goodbye...or whatever, right?). And so many of them would say "have a nice day" with a certain measure of sarcasm, but that had more to do with the silly rules than the guests themselves. In general, they were very helpful people who enjoyed helping people have an even more special vacation in any way they could (and they got some DUMB questions lemme tell ya! :p).

Turns out she and her daughter were getting off of Mission Space and a cast member acting like a "car girl" was there. My friend, like she is prone to do, said to her daughter, "Oh is she real or an animation?"

Well, the Cast Member flipped her off!

Off to Guest Relations they went! Cast Member (who they pointed out worked for GM not Disney) was sent home for the day and we were given fast passes.

I could write this off to a person with no training having a bad day, except it was only 10 in the morning!

Do as you please but I for one refuse to read different meanings into every phrase I hear. I had a wife that did that and her paranoia finally got her hospitalized. How awful would life be to be in a constant state of "what did they mean by that"?

So, if they do or if they don't, if that what it takes to prevent them from going postal from all the rude, demanding, nasty people they have to deal with everyday, it seems like a minor allowance. Instead of worrying about it, go on CoP where there's always a great big beautiful tomorrow and remember that unless you were one of the people I just described above that is not what it meant. If you were, well you probably deserved it so let it go. Have a nice day!

Sorry to hear about your X?-wife, if she ended up in the hospital over that sort of thing I can only imagine it was a serious illness!

Personally, I suffer some from "what did they mean by that?" syndrome...but it really is not worth worrying about right?

Maybe they meant nothing at all?

Or maybe, "have a nice day" is just "have a nice day". ;)

p.s. sorry I screwed up your other topic. I thought the theme was "defend Nikki", and I posted as such...before I had a chance to explain that (my mistake), you closed the thread. Smart move though, I understand why you did it (after re-reading).

The "p.s." paragraph was just an off topic comment...everyone but Goody please disregard. :)

In an effort not to see that happen I closed it. Not a popular move from some quarters but I felt it was right. Thanks for your support.

I'll take the sarcasm remark as a complement although I'm sure if I tried I could read all sorts of meaning into it. Tee Hee! If you think I'm bad you should meet my sister and my daughters. Even my 5 year old grandson is good at it. It's a gene thing. :)

Goofy - That's said about your wife. I understand about paranoia as something happened to me during my child hood. It's a horrible thing to go through. I thank God that I was able and am still able to deal with the situation.
