It started with Nikki in the 2nd post of the thread, where she decided that this thread was "Another non-issue posting.". Then in post 59, you, goofernmost, proclaimed "At what point did it become a board where opinions cannot be expressed without trying to make mountains out of molehills." And then in post 62 you complained that "On top of all that both topics have veered wildly in other directions not having to do with the topic anyway." Look, I never have problems with people expressing their opinions. But when they seem to be trying to shut down discussion, when obviously there are many people who are enjoying this very discussion, then someone's not playing nicely. At the risk of using a flaming term, you and Nikki are acting like bullies. And as long as the moderators don't pull the plug, I'll always fight against bullies. Now, we can smile, agree to disagree like good gentlepeople, or we can accelerate. What'll it be?

If passing a comment makes me a bully, then TDLFAN is the Godfather of this board!
Originally Posted By NikkiLOVESMickey I made the comment because it seemed that gaston lives, by posting the thread in the first place, wanted everyone to get indignant because some CMs might mean something else when they say "have a magical day". How are we supposed to get indignant about a hidden meaning that may or may not exist when someone is literally being kind to my face? Should I suspect every CM who is kind to me? Should I report a CM to management for being nice to me? I just don't understand what kind of reaction gaston lives is trying to garner from posting this topic. I don't see that a CM's hidden feelings when he/she says "have a magical day" is anything to get upset about. That's what I meant when I said it was a non-issue. Does simply disagreeing with gaston lives make me a bully?
Originally Posted By DVC_dad I guess "those other guys" interpreted the words "non-issue" in a different way in which you intended them. For reasons you have stated, I think if we begin second guessing every single thing said to us by these poor underpaid, and sometimes unhappy CM's, we'll never be able to enjoy a vacation ever again. Bully? Naw, you ain't no bully. However, let's take TDLFAN as you mentioned his name as an example of what is going on in this thread. I used to HATE TDLFAN, I used to think him just shy of being a Troll. I thought everything he said was negative and bordered on Disney Sabotage. Then one day, I learned how much time he has spent and spends IN Disney Parks worldwide. It is Several THOUSAND hours if not tens of thousands. No one who HATES Disney would spend that kind of time and money in the parks unless in fact they LOVED Disney. Now the point is this...he (TDLFAN) was coming from the angle of being a voice for improvement, not destruction. He talks about short comings, disappointments, and other negative things about the parks in an effort to raise awareness in hopes that things will be improved (or something like that, I don't want to speak for him totally but you get the point) and so all that time I thought he was a bad guy, he is really a great guy, and someone out here fighting for US for the parks and for quality. Now having said all that, I think it's a matter of 1) Your perspective, that is how you view the original post and it's intent, and 2) Your intent with the words "non-issue." Bottom line, maybe "non-issue" isn't the best way to say what you wanted to say. It suggests that not only does the original post have no value to the boards, but maybe even the poster has no place on the boards as well. I'm sure that isn't what you meant. But all things considered, I think you NikkiLOVESMickey, Goffernmost, and danyoung are all good people. My personal opinion is simple: It is NEVER appropriate to come into a thread and post about the thread itself. What I am trying to say is, if there is a thread that you don't have anything to say in, don't post in it. Why come in and post that the thread shouldn't be on the boards? That's against everything the boards are about. If someone wants to post that they picked a big booger from their kid's nose yesterday, let them do so. I think what I am now trying to say is let the admins and Doobie decide what should and should not be posted. Last time we all went down THAT road, we lost a lot of good LP'ers. Wow I really love to hear myself talk huh?

I don't do this just for fun. I get upset when I think that things are being carried beyond what is considered gentle people discussion. I apologize for that...one of my many short comings. We probably all are having a tendency to read to much into what is being said. I, for one, would like to stop and if I see something in the future that rubs me wrong I will ignore it and move on to the next item. I will take my own advice and just "let it go".

Nikki, in your own words - "I said this was a non-issue post because gaston also posted complaining about the fact that the Spanish instructions were given before the English on one of the attractions. I don't think this is news..." Seems to me you were attempting to discredit gaston, rather than just disagree with something he posted. And he's come on several times to say that he wasn't campaigning anyone to hate CM's who use the line in question, but was just wandering if others have heard about the practice. Please, Nikki & Goofy, don't give up disagreeing with stuff posted, especially if it's from me - I love a spirited debate. I just don't want to see discussions squashed because someone doesn't see the value in it. Others obviously do.

I find that even at 50 years old I've had to make adjustments to my speaking and writing style, as what I meant wasn't quite in line with what I said.
