They may be handy, but they are unnecessary, IMO.

With phones you can always text message also - then you dont have to worry about bothering someone around you, or hearing the phone ring

They are actually Memorex brand oddly enough but they supposedly have a range of 5 miles. We have used them with no problems whatsoever and they work really really well. When we don't take the extended family (last trip we took 22 people if you count two infants) and the 2 ways came in real handy. When the numbers are lower, and our minimum that we can take is 7, as we have 5 kids of our own <---- loves saying that BTW, we use cell phones. I try not to use the radios cuze they are expensive and I am afraid that they will get lost. That is really funny being that I have lost 2 cell phones on Disney Trips. So I love 2 way radios and don't really care who thinks them rude, and I love cell phones, but I am not rude with it at all. And obviously I love kids. Feel better Mouskateer?
