I used to listen to Limbaugh (until his drug addiction confession...during his time off, I realized that his ideology isn't in my best interests as a person who needs his job...in other words, a working person) and can tell you that Beau's attitude and way of talking is nearly word-for-word Rush. I will give on thing to Beau, though. Prager is an actual intellectual. The other right-wing radio bloviators aren't.

It is so bas with these people what they celebrate any and all bad news they can find and give talking points to the terrorists. Those are your left wing intellectuals. These people can never win elections of importance because they are so deranged.
Originally Posted By jonvn "The left will buy any conspiracy theory they hear as long as it is against Bush or America." Right. So, anyway, I think there goes the answer to my question.

I've learned that republicans are emotional sick, and not just dumb, like i used to think. No they need love and attention from us. Twenty four hour care if possible. We, the wiser intelligent ones, we shouldn't use these gifts of thought to slaughter these sheep, who pretend to be wolfs. Take it easy on the republicans, they are supposed to be americans too.

It's not so much dumb vs. smart as a basic way of looking at things... There's something very liberal (in the classic sense) about the attitude of "give the devil his due" or "I disagree with what you say but defend your right to say it" or even the somewhat squishier "all viewpoints are valid." Thus, when liberals hear some blowhard who doesn't consider any viewpoint other than his own to be valid (Mike Malloy comes to mind), they immediately turn off. Many (certainly not all) conservatives have no problem, though, with the attitude of "I'm right, the other guys are wrong, period," and right-wing talk radio thrives on this. And some here are proof positive that a lot of people lap it up. But when left-wing radio tries it, they can't find a lot of liberals who will buy into it. That's arguably both a strength (in the larger sense) and a weakness (in an electoral/fire up the base/"that's why you guys lose elections" sense) of modern liberalism.

Originally Posted By vbdad55 <In my little mental box I put you as "center-right" - but maybe we shouldn't try to put each other in little boxes.< I agree - that is why I like moderate..as there are some items I guarantee the conservatives here would call me left of center on also.... I like to take each item as a separate entity, and examine for myself regardless of Dem or GOP platform...or mainstream.

Maybe it was a bit harsh, but not all that much. The problem is that the very right wing is getting harder and harder to defend these days, and so it's being abandoned by all but the ideologues, who don't have as much of an idea as they do a set of simplistic sound bites.
