I love love LOVE Epcot & DAK, and have plenty of time planned at both this coming trip. D-MGM I've got slotted for about 2 hours (Tot, RnRC becuase Eric will want to ride it, and then Muppets or GMR), and the MK I'll visit for the Halloween party and then maybe 6 hours outside of that. DAK & Epcot are where the Magic is for me nowadays.

Things are even slowly improving with Soarin, the Nemo seacabs coming as well as an updated Illuminations and (possibly/likely) updates to SSE and Imagination, Canada and Mexico. DAK, while not built to the complete master plan without BK, is also an amazing park in scope and execution. Joe Rohde is also such a strong, dynamic personality that won't allow the park to be ruined by clueless MBAs, execs and consultants.

This is a billion-dollar franchise. Oh, but we were talking about DVC ... sorry.

And the fact they had this on their site tells me the contracts have all been signed, sealed and delivered. This is a top-notch design house. I've seen some of their work on the Beverly Hilton. They would never put a project out there that wasn't happening. They probably didn't realize that some 'insignificant poster' on an 'insignificant Disney fan site' would stumble onto it, link it up and send it out to potentially millions of people when Disney still hasn't acknowledged anything. BTW, if anyone gets a room in that North Garden Wing, I'd refuse it or demand it at half price off whatever rate they're paying because they're getting a vastly inferior product that Disney is letting fall apart because there's zero incentive to worry about anything with it closing so soon.

This is undoubtedly just one of several design firms bidding on the project. Even if this firm is chosen there will likely be modifications to the final plan. The design looks like it would have about 900 units; 60 units per floor with 15 floors. Do you really think DVC could sell another 900 units after just selling 900 at SS (assuming they actually open and sell Phase III)? By the way... the drawing has been removed from The DIS too. WDW's lawyers were BUSY yesterday!

It takes 18 months to build a 3 story high school -- and the level of detail that was here ( short really only showing the outside building materials ) - -I am willing to bet this contract has been awarded... The fact that Disney had all of this yeanked off quickly before they have a chance to announce tells me the announcement is due very shortly. And do I hink they could sell 900 DVC units at that location - absolutely yes. I could also see current owners adding points at that location - walking distance to the MK... -- there are 80,000 + families now members - Now I could see this hurting sales of SS phase III though for sure...

Probably a good bet, but not 100%. These firms sometimes exhibit proposed designs that never won the bid. In this case though with Disney as a party, Spirit is more than likely right and this design was choosen. Nothing is 100% though and there were alternatives. >>Even if this firm is chosen there will likely be modifications to the final plan.<< Unlikely, if the firm wins the bid there has to be serious stipulations or unforseen site problems to alter the overall design significantly. It just costs too much. >>Do you really think DVC could sell another 900 units after just selling 900 at SS (assuming they actually open and sell Phase III)?<< For this location. Certainly. The thing that makes this leak interesting was that they knew about Contemp like the fanboy community has for years. They didn't want the Contemp project to undercut SS sales. Sales is often asked in the SS pitch, "what is the next DVC after SS?". They are asked this because most prospects already have the mindset that they will be buying into SS with the intention of staying at other DVC units for less points. To stay at a Monorail DVC for even more points would be huge compared to SS for many of Disney's guests. (My guess) So, it certainly could effect phase III, but I don't think they'll have any problems selling Contemp. And Disney knows it. >>By the way... the drawing has been removed from The DIS too. WDW's lawyers were BUSY yesterday!<< I'm sure. Just wait until Lance posts it on Screamscape or the pictures float onto Google. The cats already out of the bag.

A good number of people who care where they stay or are used to staying at one of the Monorail resorts year after year are going to be plenty interested in this. That's why it's size makes so much more sense then a retrofit of the garden wing.

Looking at the webpage I cached the 2008 didn't come across as anything more than a projection. That might not take into affect the additional work needed on the grounds and interior. But 2008 sounds like the perfect time for DVC to start selling a new property. It would be a good way to make the remaining SS points look like a bargin.
