It would have been better to have torn down both garden wings and done two 6-8 story buildings to achieve the same amount of DVC units.

It also appears that any view of the MK from Bay Lake (from boats, the beach at the campground) will be obliterated.

And Disney hasn't made an official announcement. If it stayed on that site for long, maybe one of those lazy reporters who trolls this site like Scott Powers would have had no choice but to run a piece in the O-Sentinel. And Disney hates it when it can't contol the news.

This thing is pretty far along in design and development. I can see some small changes, but I seriously doubt that anything major will change. It's pretty much a done deal.

That sounds like a great outcome, but they probably didn't want to lose that many hotel rooms.

There is really no way Disney can contain this now. Maybe it won't matter, maybe it will be like Screamscape's Stitch explosion rumor. I would agree with everyone else and say again that it's probably going to be reality.

Just wanted to throw in that we have the Disney company to thank if they go ahead and make Cars the first Pixar DVD release to not have a 2 Disc set available. Still waiting for my Lilo & Stitch one.

The only reason the renderings disappeared was because they are authentic. If they weren't, Disney wouldn't have gotten to thems so quickly ...

BTW, is it just me or are things awfully quiet around here?

The WDI massacre must be underway behind the scenes.

I'm not so sure. They can sell SS to the typical dork from Minnesota who knows nothing about Disney except Mickey Mouse.

Meanwhile, by letting the design firm 'leak' the photo for a couple of days they have all the uber-fans drooling and ready to plunk down their bucks before they break ground. It will be the first DVC development sold out before construction begins.

And remember MK's Main Street uses forced perspecive to a far lesser extent than Disneyland. Not you RT, but I hear that tidbit misused all the time. A lot of things at MK Main Street including the trains are full-scale or near-full scale.

Come on, give me some credit. I don't think my views are that extreme.

I would say that it would be hard to find most anybody to pick SS over Contemp without a serious pricing difference. Nobody is going to buy in with that little knowledge of what's happening around WDW.

The only problem with that point is that most, if not all, of the Disney uber and DVC uber fans have already expected this, even before SS was announced as a project.

Also I wanted to say in case you weren't checking the threads that I thought your DL trip reports were A++++. I wouldn't have been able to find anything to disagree with even if I tried. I didn't try, btw.

    Hemlich all the way.

Hey... I was just having a little fun. I really don't take myself that seriously, so I don't have a problem with poking a little good natured fun at Minnesotans. You never give me that much grief. That just comes from a certain airline employee. And he is probably just jazzing me half the time anyway.

The thing is only those folks who hang out at sites like this probably even know that Disney is doing a Contemporary DVC. So they will be able to sell Joe Tourist on SS without them even knowing Contemporary is coming.

I don't know much about that stuff so maybe I'm overthinking it.

Regardless, I think the constuction will be hard to miss. Anyone traveling to the MK, who would be the ones buying into DVC for the most part, are going to wonder what's going on. Nothing has really happened at Seven Seas Lagoon since GF. I still remember my first reaction when I saw the GF project from the Contemp in person. WHOA!

That's what they did in the American Adventure pavilion in Epcot. It is actually 5 stories tall, but is designed to look like it is only 3. That is why it dominates the World Showcase skyline from across the lagoon, but really doesn't look that huge when you're standing next to it. And the problem with the Contemporary is that it will be seen mostly from very far away.

Thanks for that. I forgot all about AA. Talk about not building 'em like they used to.

No kidding. I think it will really throw of the balance of many sightlines.

Okay, I've gotta ask. I've been studying over the SS references and still can't figure what they're for. What is SS. (And I know I'll regret not being able to figure it out)

Also, I'm one of those dorks from Minnesota. Watch what you say -- I might have our former Governor Jesse Ventura come over and apply a steel folding chair to your backside.
