    yes. Good point.

I think any good thinking person would. Which makes this issue circular. With capped fees, how in the world are big ticket items going to be dealt with in 2029?

Ok - now a more serious answer - I do believe that it could be an issue and have stated that as my only concern from the first discussion I enetered here on DVC when it was routinely bashed, muhc more than now.
But, one that could be addressed if they hold off some on the extension of the 2042 agreements to say 2062 or so, depending on how the buildings hold up. That would bring the infusion of cash needed for any more major work that would need to be done. That way my kids with grandkids could have use of the facilities.

Contemporary was built in 1970 and was cutting edge in design and taste. For how many years now have the look and feel been poo-poo'd? Now quality wise the building was built solid. I would say that the Boardwalk Villas and BCVs won't hold up as well.

So the idea of contract extensions is one I can't reconcile myself with. Maybe they will offer to move members to new contracts at new facilities in 2042, but I can't see Boardwalk or something like Pop Century lasting that long.

Do you think Boardwalk and Pop Cent are of the same quality or lack of quality construction? You know they are probably the exact same. I mean who is the building inspector down there? Isn't it a quasi-government run by Disney anyway? I am speaking of Lake Buena Vista... How does all THAT work? How on EARTH do you keep questionable if not unethical practices out of a situation where the left hand is watching over the right? It's one HUGE ball of wax to ponder.

    Anyone been to Dubai?

Aren't the tennis courts included in te footing where the new ContempDVC hotel is supposed to go?

It's amazing to me how Disney-whipped the local fishwrapper is that the Sentinel's tourism writers can't even report on things like this without the OK from WDW's press office.

What do you mean by this? Are you making a general statement about the Sentinel at large, or are you talking in this case about a specific news item? What news item?

I think a lot of people will. The Home Resort means so much more now since SS was built. Which is unfotuante because I know for us, we have never booked farther than 7 months out before.

I am speaking of the fact that the Sentinel only seems to write about what Disney is up to when it is announced/sanctioned by the Mouse.

If I were a tourism beat writer for the paper and Disney was announcing DVC for AKL, sure I'd write about it.

But at the same time when Disney was closing off the North Garden Wing and Tennis Center, while the rest of the resort was undergoing a multi-million high-end total renovation ... while the Internet and CMs were buzzing about DVC being placed at the site ... with actual renderings by the architecture firm hired to do the work wound up on the web and then were quickly removed after Disney Legal intervined ... well, I'd be writing about THAT.

Sure, I'd stick in an obligatory, 'We have no announcement regarding the Contemporary Resort at this time' from a Disney PR hack. Then I'd add insders comments, CMs, maybe timeshare experts and I'd print it. And Disney officials wouldn't like it.

While on the subject, I'd also look into some of the serious safety concerns that monorail CMs have been bringing to the attention of management only to be ignored and threatened with dismissal. I might publish some of the photos that show the neglect Disney is showing and the results of said neglect.

    That's just a start ...

Why does it not suprise me that a fleet that SHOULD have another 5-6 years left are quickly headed in the direction DL's Mark Vs took.

WDW can't use the shuttle-mode excuse.

If I were interested in buying a resale I would be serious about some of the listings out there. Of course you would have to be picky with price and hope against ROFR. We'll see how agressive Disney will be in the next few months. Who knows, they might feel pretty confident that they have plenty of members who are looking for addons. Actually, they probably do.

And the kicker is we usually stay to Old Key West due to room size and ease of getting all of out kids into the Suburban.

No. It will likely take a serious accident involving guests (CMs are expendable) before WDW execs realize you simply can't ignore safety issues because there's a cost to fixing them.
