In return you presented nothing but your standard Republicans are great Democrats suck OPINION. I didn't say Carter was a great President. I didn't say Reagan was a poor one. I said that unemployment under Reagan was higher than it has ever been in the last 50 years. That is a FACT. You perhaps have also forgotten that on October 19, 1987 (Black Monday) the Dow Jones dropped 22.6% in ONE DAY... the second greatest one day decline in the history of the stock market. That is a FACT. So whatever the relative merits of Reagan and Carter, the economy was CRAP under Reagan. Now if you can come up with some facts that say otherwise I would be glad to look at them. But if all you can do is spout your usual anti-lib tripe don't bother. You will once again be irrelevant.

In all other measurements, the economy greatly improved under President Reagan compared to what it was under President Carter.

I know I didn't and had to wait to buy a home.... My point was that if I was hiring someone for a job in sales or another position, the attitude of the person means more to me than anything else. Even their college or other life experience.

Well look at the obstacles I have overcome and tell me that again ! I am not letting you off the hook on this one - there are your words - explain them again. You don't like the fact that I do not fit the 'lib' profile yet I disagree with you about the economy. That doesn't make me right or wrong but it is a valid opinion - and coming from a 30 year voting GOP - who has more experience with the economy than you do. Does it make me right and you wrong - maybe not- but it makes my points at least as valid as yours. This is not Rush's call in show now... this is the real world and you need to realize not every GOP voter sees the economy as you do....and if it continues down the path it is going today, that will be very clear in 2 years. There is plenty of time for the admin to address it, but it appears they also believe the Rush's and Coulter's of the world -- they are losing touch with a huge block of their voting base- whether you choose to see that or not.

I will take Rush's optimistic view anyday over a doom and gloomer on the economy and what opportunity exists today in America.
Originally Posted By RoadTrip <<vbdad, are you or are you not very negative about the economy, the job market, pension plans, the future?>> Vbdad is realistic about the economy. How can you possible improve things if you don't make a realistic assessment of where things are at now? He is most definitely not a negative person. NOTHING can ever satisfy a negative person. Vbdad just recognizes where there are problems and tries to fix them. It's like his opinions on WDW. He hates the Pooh Park, but that does not mean he hates WDW. Not everything is as black and white as you like to make it. Would I hire a person who was ALWAYS negative?? No. Would I here a person who by temperament or political persuasion was so blinded to reality that they walked around with blinders on, refusing to see anything they did not like? No.
