Does anyone know if you get to use the pools, or order room service from the Villas? Do you get the other perks of staying onsite like package delivery etc.? I've never really looked into it as I don't think it makes any sense for my husband and I (with no kids) to join a Disney vacation club but if we could ever have a chance to buy days at a Villa from someone that would be pretty darn cool!

But, yes, I am open to buying some "points" from an "real" owner if it matches up with our vacation plans.

For the record, I also understand DB's position, when it was just the 2 of us and we were not beholden to school vacation time, we could take advantage of cheap deals and happily stay at hotels. But between living in hojo/holiday inn express type hotels for work and being a family man, villas are the accommodation of choice. Btw, villa residents can use all the facilities of the hotel!

You get all the amenities that a GCH guest does, use of pools, Magic Morning, room service etc. We got balloons for our grandson at the front desk. The only thing you don't have, as has been mentioned, is daily room service.

There are things like soap, shampoo and dish detergent stocked in small quantities. You can buy extra at crazy prices. White Water Snacks also stocks things like bread and frozen lasagne, again at crazy prices but sometimes it's just worth it.

You also have a washer and dryer. We didn't use it, after all we were on vacation :) but when I got home and looked at the "tons" of laundry I thought I should have washed a few things. It would have been great when our kids were young and their blankie got soiled or their favorite sweatshirt was full of ice cream stains.

Not only is HoJo's a fine place to stay, it makes perfect monetary sense. It is the more logical choice.
Also keep in mind, when someone insults this property, they also insult one of the major sponsors of this website.

Sorry I ruined your little Grand Californian party.

Neither Hojos nor DGC nor any other place in Anaheim is necessarily a more "logical" choice than any other. It depends on what you value. If you're looking for a good clean room on a budget, Hojo's is a good choice. If you have two small kids who get upset at long walks after a long day and so you want to be as close as you can get on a budget, BWPPI is a good choice. If you don't mind a splurge and want the Disney ambiance, the immersion, early entry, and the other plusses detailed in this thread, DGC is a good choice.

Personally, if I'm staying on Harbor, I prefer Candy Cane to Hojo's. I like the breakfast and the dedicated shuttle. But I'll stay on property if budget allows. I only get to DLR once every year or two years. If I've saved my pennies and want to go for the sort of "to the max" DLR experience, that's not illogical. If I haven't saved enough, Candy Cane or some other Harbor place is fine.

That is the best thing I have read on this thread. How wonderful for you to have this pop into your plans.

I did not post here as I have never stayed at the Grand so had no real input. Where we stay makes HoJo's look like the Ritz. But our priority is always saving money. We do enjoy walking through the Grand on the way to Disneyland from our hotel though.

Best wishes on planning this dream vacation for your husband. And saving a whole LOT of money is such a bonus. No worries about whether or not to buy fancy meals, right?

    Horsepucky.

It's perfectly okay for someone to patronize a tacky establishment without having their tastes called into question over it.

Now, if you start trying to make an argument that HoJo's is somehow MORE upscale or LESS tacky than, say, the Waldorf Astoria in New York, then yes, you would be guilty of tacky (and wrongheaded) taste in hotels.

    But you haven't done that.

So, you're wrong and your whole argument is false.

    Get over it.

    Oh puleeze.

How much business has this website thrown to HoJo's over the years!?

Methinks they can just suck it up if someone deigns to call the place "tacky" in the midst of all the praise usually bestowed upon the place.

    <---rolls eyes.
