I would stay at the gch if i had the money but fact of the matter is i would rather go to DL 2-3 time in the year opposed to only once. Im glad you got a really good deal and make sure to post you stay afterwards.

That sounds like something we would really like. We have stayed at the Grand several times before, but the addition of a kitchen would be a huge bonus for us. Have a wonderful trip!

It never ceases to amaze me when ordinary middle class folks shell out $300+ per night to stay at a hotel without batting an eye.

As for the walk, I kind of like being off property, as I enjoy leaving behind the outside world when I step into the parks. It helps me enjoy them even more. As for "urban sprawl" I might have agreed in the old days before Harbor Blvd. and the Hotels got their face lift some years ago. If I truly want to be immersed, I'll go to WDW.

People taking this personally and then responding personally is just weird.

And that's for the cheap package. How many people here insisting that GCH is a rip off or not worth it or a snob's paradise pay over $100 a month for their cable bill to have the Premium service, or pay $300 a year for the NFL Sunday ticket? We've all got our likes and dislikes and what's important to us and what we like to spend our money on.

Where I live you get squat with antenna. But that brings up the point: having alternatives. If you have good reception and network TV floats your boat then it doesn't make sense to have cable. I'm not saying that you have to be nuts to spend $400 a night to stay at the GC, I just question the value. And yes, it's horribly expensive. As far as it being "statusy" I've know more than a few folks who have bragged to me the they always stay on property. Me? I'd rather stay at the Holiday Inn and either have a longer vacation or more of them. We stayed at the DLH some years ago (before the GCH was built) and I was very underwhelmed (except at checkout time when I saw the bill).

Again, it's people taking what other people like and dislike personally that I just don't get.
