Incorrect my dear friend.. They still have that butt ugly wand attached to the geosphere, effectively killing the integrity of the structure and it's futuristic feel. As for SE's indoors.. I woould hope for them to go in there and make MAJOR changes... the ride as it is is very 1980s. They need new sets, new and improved AAs, new special effects that actually enhance the story and not just there to look pretty.
Spaceship Earth is just pathetic in it's current state. ..And don't even get me started about the post show area's current conditions.

I'd forgotten this, and I agree. The exit hydrolater effect was not at least equivalent to the entrance effect. It was faster, and probably done that way to move people out of the pavilion more quickly once they'd decided to leave.

Seems to me SOME sort of illusion other than vibrating floors should have been employed.

QUESTION -- Were the exit hydrolaters about where the current pavilion exit is? Or were they more inboard, on the entrance side to the current merchandise location?

While they were a less impressive follow-up to the downward hydrolater, they were still more dynamic than the current exit. Which is basically the same location where the hydrolaters were.

And yes I do agree with the idea that they were less impressive because they cycled faster to get people out of the pavilion. Regardless, they were a great ending to the original pavilion, a way to tie things up and reinforce/remind guests that they are being transported back to the surface.

I've always disliked the sliding doors that have accompanied the original Epcot pavilions. It was easier to look past them when they entered into great queues or showplaces like Mexico, but sliding doors into hallways like in UoE or gift shops like TLS is really pathetic. I've seen better design in third world countries. At least the old entrance sliding doors for TLS led to a nice mood-setting queue, like Horizons and JII.

Which I always thought was the reason that there were panels in place of the moving rockwork.

As I recall, they were right where the current doors are now. Or did they open into a small foyer and then you exited through another set of doors? Can't remember.

And while I do agree that the current situation of entry and exit is bad show, I'm all for waiting and seeing what they come up with.

    I'm always hopeful, always a Pollyanna. . .

No the hydrolaters basically emptied to outside with a slight overhang above your head. Basically as it is now.

I am too, I have always said this is a step in the right direction. It's just hard to ignore obvious downgrades with some of the supporting features.
