LadyKluck confirmed my idea, but the photos--the ones from your links, & those I've looked up--they make it seem like a well-lit, LARGE space--and that's not what it seems to me from the outside! Always quite dark when I've been through, in fact the caricaturist had some kind of lamp usually. Are there any shots that show the plaza in its greater context--more than just a stairway?

Yeah they did have alot of stuff that you can find elsewhere in the park but i was amazing to find some things that seemed to be unique to only that part of the park. they had some western cermaics and horse bookstands, and what looked like hand made blankets that you can normally find in mexico and at el vera street in los angeles. it was awesome. if i had some money i would have bought some of this stuff. it reminded me of the days when port royale use to be la bat en rouge and had specific merchandise that was themed around NOS like masks, and food and spices and other land specific stuff.

We also stopped there and always bought something there. Miss it. I remember the Pendleton shop, as well. My dad and brother would stock up on Pendleton wools shirts on every trip to DL. I have the inside track on why Pendleton left DL. It was after Walt passed. Pendelton actually ran that shop. The lease was up for renewal and they were asked to leave. Pendleton did nothing wrong, their product just was not making the dollars Disney knew they could get with their own merchandise. The whole unique and special merchandise mix has been on a downward sprial since Walt hasn't been around to keep it going. Sad isn't it? dsny1mom
