I am used towait times like that in Tokyo, and I am not lazy like most Fastpass loving people seem to be.

I don't understand waiting in long line after long line for the whole day. I know Disney has some great atmospheres, but still, wait an hour for Space Mountain? I would'nt wait an hour for Space if I only had one more chance to ever ride it. I enjoy leisuring it with no waits. Fastpass is a great addition, I don't get the down-side other than in-experienced peoples ignorance on how to use it, and crowding up pathways more than usual.

In the days before fastpass you could look and say (hey, that's a 15 min line) and decide to jump in or wait until it quietened down. Now a line may look like 15 minutes but end up being closer to an hour. I used to think like you, but now that we have little ones, we are not always in the park all day, and if we find fastpasses sold out, it means unbearable waits or skipping an attraction. Also, people get in line for other attractions so it artificially inflates overall wait times. I mean I never saw a 3 hour wait for Autopia prior to fast pass, and while rides like Dumbo have always had too long a wait for the payoffs, the waits are even longer now as people say "We have a fastpass for Peter Pan in an hour, shall we go on Dumbo sinces it's over there?" And then they get in line. Also, in the main, Disney have stopped theming most of their lines (look at DCA for an example). Thankfully with the lack of fastpass for Cars and Crush, we have seen a return to themed queue lines.

It may be true that someone has used FP as a convenient explanation on why there's no themed queue, but that's not the real reason. You mention DCA, but I'd like to point out TDS, which was imagineered at the same time and just like DCA, had FP considered from the very beginning. There's no skimping on immersive queues at TDS despite many attractions having FP.

However, I wonder if fastpass does offer convenient EXCUSES to those budget cutters that want to save money on those other, crappy parks (DCA, WDSP, HKDL). "well, it's got fastpass so we don't need to bother with THIS enhancement or THAT one or THAT one...NOONE WILL SEE IT"". I suppose HKDL gets a pass...they DID build a few nice queue lines...they just skipped MOST OF THE RIDES.

Why stand in a line like that if Fastpass is available? If those who use the system to their advantage are lazy then would make the people who don't stupid.
